Scouting Report

5/3/16- Arizona State commit. Ranked No. 1 in Iowa, No. 29 Overall, No. 45 in PBR Draft 100. Lean athletic 6-foot-4, 194-pound left-handed pitcher. Delivery is balanced and repeatable, strong front side, slighty higher, loads lower half at the top of balance position, slight coil, heel to toe landing squared to target, keeps front side closed.  Arm action is loose and easy, high ¾ slot, free and easy extension out front. Showed command of his fastball, tough angle on lefties, sat 86-89 mph, looks harder than velocity suggests, gets on hitters quickly, held velocity through five innings. Curveball is tight with biting action and depth, 72-74 mph, 1/7 plane, showed ability to throw to both sides of the plate backdooring right handers and expanding the zone on lefties. Used changeup to both righties and lefties, 80 mph, fading action with feel. Easy three pitch feel with plus potential for all three, starting pitcher type projection.

10/8/15- 6-foot-4, 195-pound, left-handed pitcher with a lanky, projectable frame. Verbally committed to Arizona State. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Tall at balance point with a pronounced back turn to the catcher. Uncoils well heading towards the plate, with some explosion in the core. Fastball sat 85-87 topping out at 88 mph. Curveball showed plus potential with depth, commanding it well at 72 mph.

November - verbally committed to Arizona State University

10/1/14 - Pure left-handed hitter. Throwback, no batting gloves, hits from a narrow, slightly closed stance. Lanky, projectable frame, leg kick trigger, good job getting foot down early and being on time. Three identical singles up the middle off mid 80’s velocity that nearly took off the pitcher’s head. Smooth left handed stroke, up the middle approach. Didn’t see on the mound, but impressive with the bat on this day.

9/1/14 - Athletic 2-way player for Cedar Rapids Jefferson. Top 2016 player in state. Fluctuating velocity on mound anywhere in 81-88 range depending on day. Ability to throw 2 pitches for strikes. Also very skilled as hitter.
