Midwest Prospect League: Days 3-4

The action continued to be outstanding on the final two days of the Midwest Prospect League with players from the 2019-2021 classes building cases as players to follow moving forward. The heat was intense, but the players and teams showed no ill effect, and the energy all over the complex at Grand Park was infectious. Below are just some of the names of players who stood out:

Jett Jackson RHP / 1B / Dickson County, TN / 2019

Jackson was uncommitted when he stepped to the mound at the Midwest Prospect League, but committed to Purdue shortly after. Long and lean at 6-foot-4, 175-pounds, I have watched Jackson steadily progress for awhile now. He was up to 91 mph early on while still showcasing his longer, loose arm stroke with quick hand speed out front that makes me believe there may still be more velocity in the tank. I saw an improved breaking ball that worked at 72-74 with 11/5 shape and multi-tier break early in counts, and more slurve-type action later on. Jackson has wiry-athleticism that should allow him to continue to make adjustments moving forward, and the steady progress that he has made over the past two years may place him on some MLB Draft boards next spring.
