SCOUT BLOG

Anthony Watts 2022 RHP Waukee HS - Iowa Sticks

Kaleb German 2022 MIF Urbandale HS - 3T’s

Tall setup in the box, allowed himself to stay on time through extension. Had some rhythm in his approach at the plate. Looked to drive the ball gap to gap. Slender build but has the arm to stick on the left side of the field. Quick twitch athlete.

Ben Amador 2022 RHP Ames HS – 3T’s
The tall righty used a 80-83mph FB to keep hitters off balance on Saturday. FB was mostly straight while topping at 84. Showed a tight CB at 74-76mph, used as a strikeout pitch. Clean repeatable delivery that projects for more velocity in the future.

Spencer Campidilli 2022 Catcher Johnston HS – D-Bat
The Johnston senior was red hot on the weekend, including multiple barrels to the pull side of the field. The RHH catcher launched a ball onto the batting cages in left field using a short quick swing. Has a soft glove behind the plate, while having the arm strength to stick back there at the next level. 2.00 pop in between innings. Follow 2022 prospect.

Alex Neal 2022 RHP Cedar Rapids Xavier HS - D-Bat

Kaden Frommelt 2023 Catcher Marion HS – D-Bat
The shorter, stocky catcher of Marion really stood out behind the plate on the weekend. Coming off a great summer season, he continued swinging a hot bat while lacing multiple XBH’s from gap to gap. Gives a lot of energy behind the plate and is a vocal leader. Received up 80’s velocity well. 2.05 pop in between innings. Follow 2023 prospect.

Ian McGhiey 2022 1B Ankeny Centennial HS – Iowa Sticks Scout Troncin
McGhiey displayed a high setup at the dish, with an open stance. Kept his hands back well to drive the ball back up the middle in multiple AB’s. Didn’t show any problems getting to extension on some long foul-balls and hits over the outfielders’ heads.

Carson Knebel 2022 RHP Pleasant Valley HS – Iowa Sticks Scout Troncin
Knebel a tall, slender RHP had a strong start on Sunday for Iowa Sticks Troncin. The righty used a FB that worked mostly at 77-80 mph with straight action, while topping at 81. His CB had true 12/6 spin that he used in strikeout counts. Flashed an average CH in low leverage situations. XL frame that could handle much more velocity in the future.

Kaleb Bleil 2022 UTL Woodbury Central HS- Sioux City Futures

Chance Key 2022 1B/OF Waverly Shell Rock HS- Iowa Sticks Scout Kaufman
Recent DMACC commit, showed a simple swing on the weekend. Had a high setup with and open stance, which created good rhythm into extension point. He looked to drive the ball with lots of intent into the gaps.

Kolton Lyman 2022 RHP/3B Rockford HS – Iowa Sticks Scout Kaufman
Kicked off his weekend on the mound for the Iowa Sticks Kaufman on Saturday afternoon. The strong built righty used a 84-86 mph FB that had some natural cut too it. CB was thrown hard with good intent that showed 11/5 shape. Lyman competed really well on the mound and was always getting in good pitching counts, using the FB on both sides of the plate. Follow 2022 arm.

Justin Hackett 2022 RHP/3B Winterest HS – Iowa Sticks Scout Kaufman
TCU commit showed well at the plate and at 3B over the weekend. Showed a really strong frame with an athletic stance in the box. Had quick hands and trusted the approach in the box. Higher upside prospect on the mound.

Drew Micek 2022 OF Pleasant Valley HS – Iowa Sticks Scout Kaufman
Quick footed OF displayed strong arm talent on the weekend. Took good routes to track down balls in the gaps as well. Handled the bat well, putting a ball deep over the left field fence. Had a balanced setup in the box. Line-drive approach.

Nolan Schroeder 2022 LHP Dubuque Hempstead HS – Iowa Travel Baseball
The Hempstead lefty used a FB that played at 78-79 mph, topping at 80 mph. The FB had some ASR to it and was efficient in the zone. Had some control issues out of the windup. CB was loopy and showed 1/7 break. Has some projection to the frame.

Ian Dittmer 2023 Utility/RHP North Scott HS – Iowa Travel Baseball
Dittmer is a thick framed prospect that used his strength well on the field. On the mound, he was 78-80 mph with the FB while topping at 82 mph. Showed more of a slider as his off-speed pitch. In the box he had a middle of the field approach. Looked to drive the ball right back up the middle. Interesting prospect. Follow 2023.

Jaxson Schumacher 2023 Catcher Treynor HS – Nebraska Prospects 2023 Scout
Had a no-doubt homerun to dead center on Sunday afternoon. Very confident player while on the field. The setup is controlled in the box with balance. Arm is above average for age with carry to the base. Popped a 2.01 in between innings. Big upside, both defensively and offensively. Follow 2023.

Michael Meckna 2024 RHP Creighton Prep HS – Nebraska Prospects 2023 Scout
The young RHP showed good glimpses of potential in his outing this weekend. Slender build with high coordination allows for his operation to be very clean and repeatable. Ran the FB up to 87 mph on the day, while sitting mostly 83-85 mph. From a true ¾ arm slot, Meckna has potential on the mound while having a body to dream on. High level 2024 prospect.

Jake Pemble 2022 LHP Johnston HS- Johnston Fall Team

Camden Kaufman 2022 RHP/IF Waukee HS – Iowa Sticks
Sticks right-hander was 84-86 mph with varying late action to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball was 75-76 mph and shows significant progression since last year.

Keefer Saddoris 2022 RHP Norwalk HS – Iowa Sticks
Medium athletic build with clean compact arm action. Riding life through the upper half of the zone at 81-83 mph. 12/6 curveball flashes above avg. action for strikes.

Jake Edenburn 2022 IF Bondurant-Farrar HS - Iowa Sticks

Casey Stecker 2022 RHP Indianola HS – Iowa Sticks

Heavy run and sink action that bores into RHH’s. 80-82 mph on fastball; turns hand over hard at release creating above avg. pitch action.

Dylan Christensen 2022 RHP Norwalk HS - Iowa Sticks

Will DeStigter 2023 UTL Woodbury Central HS – Sioux City Futures
DeStigter stood out offensively for the SC Futures squad. The RH hitter has strength to the gaps and collected multiple loud hits. Solid all-around player and a prospect to follow in Western Iowa.

Michael Siemer 2022 1B Johnston HS - Johnston Fall Team

Alex Thomas 2023 LHP Elkhorn South HS - Nebraska Prospects

Jackson Smith 2022 RHP Johnston HS – Johnston Fall Team
Smaller framed pitcher with ability to compete with 4 pitches in the zone. Fastball was 80-84 mph with varying action. Distinct difference in two breaking balls- slider is 74-75 with small shape and late sweeping break. Curveball is 68-70 with solid down action.

Alex Stewart 2023 RHP Southeast Polk - Iowa Sticks
