Iowa State Director

Malik Moore, OF/LHP, Waukee, Class of 2015

PBR:  Why did you choose Iowa Western CC in Council Bluffs?

MOORE:
I chose Iowa Western because it seemed like the right fit for me. I like the idea of junior college and the opportunities that it presents for the future.

PBR:  What other schools were you considering?

MOORE:
I was also considering Lincoln Memorial U. and Iowa Central CC.

PBR:  Where did they first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?

MOORE:
They first saw me during the season last summer and at the State Tournament in Des Moines. I visited the college and got along well with all of the coaches.

PBR: What role do you expect to play your first year on campus?

MOORE:
Whatever role they need me to fill in and be competitive.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

MOORE:
My grandpa has had a big impact on me.

PBR: What have you worked on/improved since last year?

MOORE:
I worked on getting my velocity up this fall and am trying to improve all of my off-speed pitches.

PBR: Who is the toughest player that you have faced in Iowa?

MOORE:
Nicky Nelson- right-handed pitcher from W. Des Moines Valley who is currently at Iowa Western.

PBR:  What are your thoughts on the recruiting process? Any advice for future players in your position.

MOORE:
I thought it was pretty exciting because you find out which schools are interested in you and have been paying attention to you. It's hard to pick a college but it is nice to have multiple options so you can compare the schools. My advice for future players is to make sure to always go hard when you're playing because you never know who is watching.
