PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
LIEURANCE: I created a good bond with the coaching staff at Western Illinois. I could tell that they were very passionate about the game and their players. I also really liked the facilities and the campus. Western Illinois just seemed like the perfect fit for me.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
LIEURANCE: I also considered Minnesota St., Winona St., Iowa, Southeastern, Iowa Western, NIACC, and Creighton.
PBR: Where did they first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?
LIEURANCE: They attended one of the games I pitched last summer, they also saw me at the Junior Showcase. They would call me weekly and our relationship really took off from there.
PBR: What role do you expect to play your first year on campus?
LIEURANCE: I’m hoping to see plenty of innings so that I can help my team win.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
LIEURANCE: My head coach at Cascade, Roman Hummel, has helped me greatly.
PBR: What have you worked on/improved since last year?
LIEURANCE: I’ve worked on improving my off-speed pitches along with my mechanics.
PBR: What are your thoughts on the recruiting process? Any advice for future players in your position.
LIEURANCE: The recruiting process was very fun for me. I enjoyed visiting all the places that I did and meeting the coaches. My advice for future players is to make sure that you take your time when making your college decision.
