The recruiting radar: Nathan hoth, C, Davenport West, 2016

Name: Nathan Hoth
Position: C
Grade: 2016
Height/Weight: 5-foot-9, 165-pounds
High School: Davenport West
Ranking: 28th in Iowa’s 2016 Class

Evaluation: Right-handed hitting catcher who ran a 7.25 60. Hoth continues to improve and impress after each event. Solid runner. Performed very well behind the dish. Improved his pop times to the 1.85-1.97 range with 77 mph arm strength. Every throw was knee high and on the bag. 2-hole or 8/9 hole hitter who moves the ball around with solid contact and approach. Does little things well at plate. High Follow for 2016 class with ability to catch and throw consistently.

PBR: What schools have you been hearing from?
HOTH: I’ve been speaking with Central College, Coe College and Wartburg.

PBR: Have you developed a relationship with any specific coaches?
HOTH: I’ve been in contact quite a bit with Coach Schirm from Central College.

PBR: Have you taken any visits? If so, please describe each visit.
HOTH: I've taken one visit to Central. Toured the campus, watched practice, ate dinner with the team and stayed with a player/friend. It was a great experience; they have a beautiful campus.

PBR: Do you have any visits scheduled?
HOTH: I have a second visit scheduled to Central College in September.

PBR: Do you have any offers at this stage?
HOTH: I have not received any offers yet.

PBR: Do you have a timeline for your recruitment?
HOTH: I am going to continue to look at my options for next year.

PBR: Do you have a favorite at this stage? If so, who and why?
HOTH: Central College. Their coaches and administration have been very involved in the recruitment of me.

PBR: What showcases or events have been most meaningful to your recruitment thus far?
HOTH: PBR's Eastern IA Showcase I popped my best time of 1.87; and PG Spring Top Prospect event have been beneficial to me.

PBR: GPA/ACT/SAT?
HOTH: I have a 3.12 GPA and scored a 20 on my ACT.
