Evaluation: 8/7/16- 6-foot, 165-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 84 mph exit velocity. Up tempo delivery, high leg kick, with slight hitch as he works down mound. Clean loose arm that produces late arm-side life at 83-86 mph. Above avg. breaking ball, 1/7 shape, with sharp sweeping break. One of better uncommitted LHP’s in state. Crouched stance, open start, strides to square, works top half of baseball, stiff path to contact occasionally, line drive and ground ball contact, mid/pull approach. Clean glove action, works through ball, front side stays on target, ¾ arm slot, solid carry and accuracy on throws, 89 mph arm strength from outfield.

PBR: What schools have you been hearing from?
BEUTEL: Southern Illinois – Edwards, Rend Lake CC, Black Hawk CC, Marshalltown CC, Upper Iowa, Johnson County, Southeastern CC, other Community Colleges, and various D2 colleges have expressed an interest as well.

PBR: Have you taken any visits? Do you have any scheduled in the near future?
BEUTEL: I plan on visiting Southern Illinois, Black Hawk, Marshalltown, Rend Lake, and Southeastern.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school?
BEUTEL: I’m looking for a school that has a good business and/or physical therapy program. I hope to play for a college with a good pitching coach to help me develop as a better pitcher, and where I can contribute to the success of the baseball team.

PBR: What were some of the highlights of your junior year?
BEUTEL: I was a starting varsity pitcher, with 54 strikeouts (13 strikeouts in one game), a 1.37 ERA, and an OPP BA of .157. I was 2nd Team All Mac, and 2nd Team All-Metro.

PBR: What are your goals for this year? 
BEUTEL: My goals for this year include being admitted to a college, raising my GPA, continuing to improve upon my stats from last year, and working hard to become a more complete pitcher. I would also like to continue to improve as a baseball player, and hopefully win a state championship.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?
BEUTEL: I played football though my sophomore year until I decided to concentrate more on baseball. I also play soccer.

PBR: GPA/ACT/SAT?
BEUTEL: My GPA is a 3.0 and I just took the ACT on September 10th.
