It's important to note that as players continue their development, some show marked improvement at a much more rapid pace. That doesn't indicate that other players got worse or went backward; it's just how player development works. As the year unfolds, players improve, and new prospects appear on the radar, expanding the Prep Baseball rankings universe.

+++ FULL 2028 RANKINGS +++

NUMBER ONE

Will Biggs SS / OF / Waukee High School, IA / 2028

Will Biggs has been a standout prospect for multiple years in the state.

He's already experienced the Future Games, playing with Team MoKan in 2023, and he's excelled in every facet of the game that we've seen. He's big and physical for his age but he's also playing the game at a higher level. We've seen him destroy baseballs in our Prep Baseball Iowa Spring League and the fall tournament circuit, driving the ball to both sides of the field. He's also done advanced things in the box, like spread out with two strikes, unrelenting in his pursuit of putting the ball in play.

Not only is he the number one in Iowa, he's ranked 47th nationally. Blindingly bright future for Biggs.

THE REST OF THE TOP FIVE

Abram Decena OF / C / Centerville High School, IA / 2028

Compact, powerful frame that is capable of playing multiple positions. Tracks the ball well in the outfield, recieves and throws well behind the plate. As an 8th grader playing varsity this past summer, his .556 batting average was third in the state.

Brekken Miller C / RHP / Ankeny Centennial High School, IA / 2028

Tons of athletic traits. Arm strength is a plus from behind the dish (81 MPH) as well as transfer and footwork (1.88 pop). Plays the game with high energy.

Jayden Stumpff 3B / OF / Prairie High School, IA / 2028

A 6.9 runner with a projectable frame.

Kasen Gilroy LHP / 1B / Prairie High School, IA / 2028

Short, quick arm. Ran his fastball up to 82, cruised at 79-81 during the Junior Future Games outing this past summer. Landed his curveball for strikes and swing/miss.
