RYAN STEDMAN | WDM VALLEY
The journey of WDM Valley’s Ryan Stedman (2026, Iowa commit) has been exciting to follow.
Stedman first caught attention at the 2021 Junior Future Games with Team MoKan, offering an early glimpse of the player he would become. In the three-and-a-half-year-old clip, you can already see the athleticism, clean arm action, and high waist that would eventually develop into his current 6-foot-3 frame and Division I commitment.
But his rise didn’t happen overnight.
As a freshman, Stedman was invited to the 2023 Prep Baseball Iowa Preseason All-State event, where his fastball topped out at 80.8 MPH—ranking 12th among his class peers. A year of growth and dedication saw him return in 2024, where he touched 88.5 MPH, now ranking 4th and putting himself firmly in the mix for the 2024 Future Games. Not long after, he hit 90 MPH in Spring League action.
This past summer, Stedman showcased his long, lean frame and loose, fluid delivery at LakePoint, reaching 89.6 MPH for Team Midwest. In October, he committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes.
“Ryan Stedman oozes projection,” says Prep Baseball Upper Midwest Supervisor Rob Allison. “Tall, long, lanky, whippy arm, good velocity. He’s probably 20 pounds away from being an absolute beast as a right-handed pitcher.”
Now ranked 6th in the state (and 357th nationally), Stedman has been sitting in the low 90s during offseason training and is set to showcase his gains at the 2025 Upper Midwest Procase later this month.
