9 To Know: Future Games Sleepers

Shooter Hunt

The PBR Future Games is a treasure trove of talent for college coaches to sift through as they have the chance to see more than 400 uncommitted underclassmen in one place. Many players immediately stand out with big measureables or have stellar performances in-game, but there are plenty of others who quietly showcase high-level tools throughout steady performances. Below are nine such players whose skills show up time and time again when watching them for a longer period of time. Included on the list are players from Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Will Passeau OF / RHP / St. Paul's Episcopal , AL / 2021

Passeau’s athleticism and frame stand out right now, and his potential as a two-way player will likely make him valuable in the eyes of college coaches. Sporting proportional strength throughout a high-waisted, 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame, Passeau has plenty of room to continue filling out in the future, but already sports some gap-to-gap strength from the left side. Utilizing a handsier load that works down and back with a knee-knock stride, Passeau gets aggressive use out of his hips while working the barrel through the zone on an uphill plane to produce pull side power thanks to quick hands and strong wrists. He moves well in the outfield with confident glove work, and showcases a strong (89 mph), accurate arm from the outfield. That arm strength also carries over to the mound where the right-hander has been up to 89mph with his fastball. Coming out of a near over-the-top slot, Passeau drives the ball to the bottom of the zone after a continuous, medium-sized arm stroke with some effort out front. He also shows some feel for a multi-tier breaking ball and changeup. Overall, Passeau’s value as a two-way player who may ultimately hit in the middle of a lineup at the next level will likely intrigue coaches.
