The Central Illinois Open took place on August 16th at the Corn Crib in Normal, IL. Following the event the PBR scouting staff compiled all of the notes from the workout and over the next week we will break down the event position by position.

Today we look at the outfielders who were in attendance. 2017 OF Miles Simington from Normal Community HS stood out at the event and is one of the top uncommitted 2017's in Illinois. Simington is a left/left prospect with high upside at the plate. The left-handed hitter makes consistent hard contact, has present bat speed and flashes pull-side power.

OUTFIELD Prospects (Listed Alphabetically)

Dalton Corcoran, RHP/OF, Normal West, 2019
6-foot-1, 165-pound right-handed hitting RHP/OF. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with smooth rhythm. Works quick on the mound. Fastball flashed sinking action at 80-82 mph. Slider has 10-4 shape, occasionally backs up at 66-68 mph. Changeup showed fading action at 74-76 mph. Defensively has a long, loose arm action . Threw 80 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a heel lift stride and load to backside. Pull hitter with a long swing path. 72 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.85. Future projects on the mound.

Ryan Harty, LHP/1B/OF, Plainfield South, 2018
6-foot, 150-pound left-handed hitting utility player. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a loose, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a square landing. Features four pitches. Fastball was straight at 75-76 topping out at 78 mph. Has both a slider and a curveball. Slider is a better pitch with short breaking action at 70-71 mph. Curveball has no action at 66-67 mph. Threw a knuckleball at 63-66 mph. At the plate hits from an open stance with a short stride and collapse on the backside. Pull hitter with an uphill swing path. 80 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively has a long arm action from an over the top slot. Threw 74 mph from the outfield and 69 mph across the infield.

Drew Henrikson, RHP/OF, Rochester, 2020
5-foot-10, 155-pound, right-handed hitting RHP/OF. Projects well on the mound. Works from a low ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Will drop down to sidearm. Tall and fall delivery with easy effort and an upright finish. Fastball showed running action at 75-77 mph for strikes. Slider has sweeping frisbee action at 66 mph. Slows arm on changeup that showed occasional sinking action at 64-65 mph. Defensively has a loose arm action. Accurate throws with carry throwing 76 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with a clean exchange. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a toe tap stride and a good lower half. Gap to gap hitter with a long swing path. 74 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.97.

Jack Henry, OF, Bloomington, 2018
5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a heel lift stride. Line drive hitter with average bat speed. 80 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.05. Defensively has a long arm action from a ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with average hands. Threw 70 mph from the outfield.

Robert Ott, OF, De La Salle, 2018
6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with an athletic frame. Ran the 60 at 7.03. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short stride. Pull hitter with early rhythm. 80 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively has a short, stiff arm action. Plays thru the ball. Threw 71 mph from the outfield.

Benji Phillips, OF, Normal University, 2019
6-foot-1, 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with an athletic frame. Defensively has a long arm action from an over the top slot. Accurate throws with carry throwing 79 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with a long exchange. At the plate hits from balanced setup, sinks into load with a short lift lift stride. Pull hitter with an uphill swing path. 71 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.17.

Seth Reed, OF/3B, Prairie Central, 2018
5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitting OF/3B. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a heel turn stride. Pull hitter with stiff rhythm and an uphill swing path. 76 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.69. In the outfield has  a short arm action from an over the top slot. Uphill throws with slower actions. Threw 74 mph from the outfield. Also took drills in the infield and threw 70 mph across the diamond.

Miles Simington, OF, Normal Community, 2017
Currently ranked No. 32 in the Illinois 2017 class. Strong framed 5-foot-9, 195-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. Defensively has a short, quick arm action from a high ¾ slot. Accurate throws with carry throwing 82 mph from the outfield. Athletic actions, playing thru the ball with a quick, clean exchange and fluid footwork. At the plate hits from an open stance with a short stride and good balance. Gap to gap hitter with a short, uphill swing path, stays compact. Fluid rhythm with a fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 94 mph exit velocity from a tee. One of the top uncommitted prospects in the Illinois 2017 class.

Miklo Strader, OF/RHP, Danville, 2019
6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short stride. Pull hitter with an uphill swing path. 77 mph exit velocity form a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.94. Defensively has a long arm action from a ¾ slot. Threw 73 mph from the outfield. On the mound works from a ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a short stride and upright finish. Lacks extension out front. Fastball sat 71-74, ramping up to 79 mph on the final pitch. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 65-67 mph for strikes. Fastball arm speed on changeup at 72-75 mph.

Colton Strohl, OF/RHP, Prairie Central, 2017
6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP with an athletic frame. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short stride. Pull hitter with a long, level swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.50. Defensively has a long arm action form a high ¾ slot. Threw 78 mph from the outfield. On the mound works form an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a toe closed landing. Fastball flashed some cutting action at 73-76 topping out at 79 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 59-61 mph for strikes. Changeup was straight at 66-71 mph.
