Central Illinois Open: Top Overall Prospects

On Aug. 7, PBR Illinois hosted the annual Central Illinois Open at the Corn Crib. Soon after the event we took a quick look at some of the statistical standouts from the day. 

Over the last week or so, we’ve been breaking down the event on a position-by-position basis. Today we conclude the event roll-out with a look at the top overall prospects. Mahomet-Seymour's RHP Kobe Essien takes the top spot thanks to his live, projectable arm and swing-and-miss slider.

TOP OVERALL PROSPECTS

Kobe Essien RHP / Mahomet Seymour , IL / 2020

Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-foot-2, 170-pounds. Athletic frame and actions, lean build, highly projectable.
Delivery: Athletic delivery, lands square, loose actions.
Arm Action: RH. Live arm, quick and loose. High 3/4 to over the top slot.
FB: T88, 85-87 mph. Straight four seam type, jumped through the zone, occasional run. Showed feel for strikes.
SL: 72-74 mph. 10/4 shape, tight spin, sharp action.


Jack Bach RHP / Normal University, IL / 2022

Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-foot-4, 200-pounds. Large frame and build, sturdy pitchers build.
Delivery: Tall and fall, uptempo with some effort, finishes to first base side.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, high 3/4 slot, above average arm strength.
FB: T85, 83-84 mph. Showed steady run to arm side.
CB: 59-65 mph. 12/6 shape, occasionally plays 11/5, gradual action.
CH: 76-78 mph. Sinking action.
