Pleasant Plains 7, Monticello 0
Pleasant Plains (29-11) blanked the Sages behind a five-hit shutout from Chad Weller. Weller (6-2) struck out six and did not walk a batter. Alex Edwards had a single and two RBI to lead the Cardinal attack. Cole Greer continued his hot-hitting with a 2-for-2 day with two runs scored. Cole Hamilton chipped in with a triple for Plains, which finished runner-up in 2A last spring.

SAUGET SUPER

Freeburg 3, No. 20 Teutopolis 1
Freeburg (30-8) sent the Wooden Shoes home, scoring a pair of runs in the top the seventh to break up a 1-1 game and advance to the Class 2A Final Four at O’Brien Field in Peoria on Friday.Ty Dill’s RBI single to right gave the Midgets a 2-1 lead, scoring Nick Yung, who led off the top of the seventh with his third hit of the game. Chris Smith followed with an RBI single to center to give the Midgets an insurance run.  Milton Pinkston (5-1) mowed down Teutopolis (31-7) in the bottom of the seventh to complete his three-hit masterpiece. The Wooden Shoe run was unearned .

AUGUSTANA SUPER

Byron 3 Sherrard 2 (10 Innings)
Byron (35-3) outlasted the Tigers in 10 exciting innings to advance to the Class 4A Final Four at O’Brien Field in Peoria on Friday. Tiger starting and winning pitcher Nathan Peterson (12-0) went the distance for Byron, allowing six hits with nine strikeouts. Tyler Nunez went 4-for-4 with a triple, and led off the 10th with a single. Nunez would go to second on a wild pitch and score the Tiger game-winner on a RBI by Jack Fleeger.
