Draft League Spotlight: Francois Castillo
March 4, 2021
Player: Francois Castillo
Position: RHP
School: John A. Logan
A large, strong framed right-hander at 6-foot-1, 225 pounds, Castillo shows great intent to throw hard. He runs his fastball up to 94 mph with good life down in the zone. He possesses a sharp slider at 83-84 mph with high spin (2700+ rpm). His curveball arrives at the plate with even an even higher spin rate (2800+) at 79-81 mph. Castillo also shows the ability to subtract spin with a mid-80s changeup (1900 spin rate) and sells the pitch with high effort and fastball arm speed. The strong-bodied righty profiles as a shutdown reliever.
