Freshman Winter Standouts

Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

The spring season is getting underway so winter events are wrapping up. Our state directors take a look at some freshmen that have stood out recently.

Nick Arias, 2B/RHP, Tucson Magnet HS, AZ
Arias has a 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame with a high waist. He makes everything he does look easy and is a legitimate two-way prospect. His arm action is effortless and his fastball works down in the zone at 83-85 mph. He also has impressive feel for a breaking ball at 68-70. He’s able to throw it for a strike and buckle hitters. At the plate, he has a slightly open stance and good rhythm. His lower half gets rotated through, helping him stay in the zone as long as he can. He has no wasted movement in the infield and the ability to throw from multiple arm slots. He throws 83 across the diamond.
