6-foot-4, 200-pound left-handed pitcher currently ranked No. 24 in Illinois’ class of 2016 was the top pitching prospect at this year’s Underclass Trials. Currently uncommitted. Impressed with easy, quick, high ¾ arm action from smooth delivery producing 83-85 mph fastballs with late cut boring in on right-handed hitters. Shoulders work uphill as he really loads lower half and gets a good hip bump going towards home plate. Struggles to command fastball at times due to back foot heel slipping towards home plate on the mound, throwing off his direction towards home plate, causing him to land closed on his front foot, limiting his extension and feel out front. Locking back foot in on the mound should fix the problem, and help him repeat his delivery more consistently. Showed improved feel of 70-72 mph curveball with occasional 12/6 action that backed up at times. Also threw 70-75 mph changeup with good arm speed but erratic command. Miller’s frame and clean arm action make it easy to see him operating in the upper 80’s or low 90’s in the next couple years.
In 42.2 innings this spring struck out 66, walked 18, and allowed 29 hits for a 2.95 E.R.A. Also hit .300 with eight doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 19 RBI. Plays travel baseball for Elite Baseball Training.
The Prep Baseball Report Future Games is a one-of-a-kind event featuring the top 2016 prospects from across our 10 state coverage area. This year taking place at Grand Park in Westfield, IN from July 31-August 2, hundreds of scouts from across the country will fill the stands to watch some of the top uncommitted 2016 prospects across our coverage area.
Last year’s Illinois Class of 2015 Future Games Team has already seen thirteen Division 1 commitments from that roster. Over the next several weeks we will begin to unveil prospects who have been selected to participate in this year's event with a brief history and bio of the player and what we can expect from him at the PBR Future Games.
