Future Prospects Showcase - Milwaukee: Player Analysis

The PBR Future Prospects Showcase Milwaukee for the 2023 and 2024 graduating classes took place on April 3 at Hitters Baseball Academy in Caledonia, Wis. Over 30 prospects participated in a pro-style workout in front of the PBR Illinois/Wisconsin Scouting Staff.
At the conclusion of the event, the staff took a look at the statistical analysis from the event and highlighted a few standout prospects.
Well-known in the 2023 class, Alexander Alicea (St. Thomas More) was one of the top infielders at the event. The 5-foot-4 switch-hitting shortstop swings a smooth bat with above-average bat speed for his age. His reliable hands and natural instincts make him one of the best defensive players in the class, while also impressing scouts on the mound. His all-around game solidifies his status as an elite prospect in the 2023 class.
Right-handed pitcher Evan Shapiro (Wauwatosa East) was one of the top pitchers at the event. The 6-foot-4 2023 graduate uses his frame well on the mound and saw his fastball touch 80 mph. He also showed an advanced feel for both of his off-speed pitches.
Adam Switalski (Westosha Central) is a two-way prospect that impressed scouts at the event. Switalski’s fastball touched 82 mph on the mound, the hardest fastball velocity at the event. His advanced offensive and defensive skills for his age make him one of the best two-way prospects in his class.

Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-foot-4, 110-pounds; highly athletic, plays with twitch.
Defense: Reliable hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange, plays athletically in the field, natural defensive instincts.
Arm: RH. INF - 74 mph. Short arm action, high 3/4 slot, accurate on his throws, showed occasional carry.
Hit: SH. Balanced setup, smooth load, short stride, good balance, looks calm and confident at the plate. Above-average bat speed for his age, slight uphill path to the baseball, mostly produced line drives into the gaps, simple but productive swing. True switch hitter.
Power: 77 mph exit velocity from the tee. Works the gaps with barrel feel.
Run: 7.37 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Smooth rhythm throughout delivery, tall balanced setup, slight drop in back side, works in line, lands closed, works across his body, athletic on the mound, showcased a slide step.

Ethan Brown, Waukesha West, 2023
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-foot-8, 135-pounds.
Defense: Steady hands, clean exchange, gets rid of the ball quickly.
Arm: RH. INF - 68 mph. Short loose arm action, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, short stride, quiet front foot. Fast hands, uphill path to the baseball, elevates the ball well.
Power: 81 mph exit velocity from the tee. Projectible hitter as he matures.
Run: 8.11 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Showed some rhythm, drop in his backside, works in line with his target, lands slightly closed.
