For the fourth straight year, PBR Illinois will host the GPA Games at Lee Pfund Stadium at Wheaton College. This one-of-a-kind showcase is targeted for academic-minded prospects looking to leverage their skills on the diamond and in the classroom into opportunities to play ball at the next level. Taking the field on Sunday will be prospects not only from Illinois, but from Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, and other states in the Midwest.

Taking a look at last year’s event, 16 of the attendees committed to play ball at the next level - primarily 2019 graduates, highlighting how important this event can be for incoming seniors. Highlighting that bunch is Wisconsin’s Trent Turzenski (Burlington, 2019), who will be attending Valparaiso University this upcoming fall, and Missouri’s Kyle Potthoff (Marquette, 2019), who is preparing to begin his freshman year at Rutgers. 

This year’s event features an interesting crop of 2020 prospects that may not be uncommitted for much longer. Connor Cassady (Lyons Township, IL) is a physical 6-foot-4, 205-pound right-hander that saw his fastball touch 84 mph at the Top Prospect-Chicago earlier this summer. There are bound to be a number of other prospects who emerge at the event, including SS/C Sam Holtz (Lake Zurich), who is a 2021, with a physical right-handed swing.
