Illiana Preseason I.D.: Preview

By Illinois Staff

Our second showcase of 2020, the Illiana Preseason I.D., will be held on Monday, Jan. 20, at the Ho-Chunk Sports and Expo Center in Chicago Heights, Ill. The Ho-Chunk complex, also known as the Southland Center, is currently set to host approximately 70 prospects, but there is still time to register to attend.

This event is aimed at high school prospects, ranging from 2020 to 2023 graduating classes, in both Illinois and Indiana. With PBR staff representing both states at the showcase, this event has helped talent within their respective states and classes secure opportunities to play at the next level.

There are already nine prospects a part of last year’s event roster who have since committed, including top-40-ranked junior RHP Adam Brouwer (Chicago Christian; Illinois-Springfield). This is also where our staff got a good look at Shane Baumgarten (Wheaton Academy, 2021; uncommitted), who’s situated near Brouwer on the state’s junior board – and is also registered for Monday’s event once more. From Indiana, last year’s roster featured a top-10 player from the state, Carson Husmann (South Central, 2019; Bradley), and the 2020 roster will have some premium Indiana talent as well.

Shane Baumgarten (7/2/19)

Freshman Kevin Corcoran from Illiana Christian in Indiana should be one of the top 2023 prospects in attendance. He was selected to participate in the PBR Junior Future Games, representing Team Indiana, so we’re looking forward to getting another close look.

From Illinois, it’s been over a year since we last saw Romeoville’s Ulysses Munoz (2021), is a right-handed pitcher coming off an impressive spring season for the Spartans. There’s a fair amount of new names and faces headed to Monday’s showcase, too, so there’s bound to be some pop-up prospects to circle and know coming out of the event.
