Illinois Recruiting Notebook

Several more 2014 prospects have named their schools recently. A look at who’s going where:

+ Christian Howell, a RHP from Metea Valley HS, has committed to Minnesota State. The 6-foot, 155-pound Howell showed well at the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase in October, as he worked from two different arm angles, climbing as high as 86 mph with his fastball. Howell is currently ranked No. 169 in Illinois’ 2014 class.

+ Alex Meyers, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound RHP from Edwardsville HS, has committed to Concordia University in Illinois. The projectable Meyers is currently ranked No. 196 in Illinois’ 2014 class.

+ Quincy Jones, a 6-foot-1, 155-pound OF from Homewood-Flossmoor HS, has committed to Wabash Valley JC. Over the summer, Jones ran a 7.38 60, was clocked at 84 mph from the outfield and recorded an 86 mph exit velocity.

+ Rich Hernandez, a 5-foot-10, 190-pound LHP/1B from McHenry HS, has committed to North Park University. At a PBR event over the summer, Hernandez sat 79-80 with his fastball.

+ Rob Leonard, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound LHP from Naperville North HS, has committed to Millikin.

+ Noah Greenberg, an INF from Libertyville HS, has committed to Concordia in Wisconsin.

+ Robert Nagel, an OF/INF from McHenry West HS, has committed to Indiana Tech.
