The recruiting wheel continues to churn faster and faster. The seventh 2016 prospect in Illinois has named his school after MIF Mike Massey (Brother Rice HS) verbally committed to the University of Illinois recently. The switch-hitting Massey, who’s ranked No. 16 in Illinois’ 2016 class, is a transfer from St. Rita HS.

Illinois’ 2016 class is on an accelerated pace, as it clearly has the most sophomore verbal commitments in the Prep Baseball Report’s 10-state coverage area. The top three ranked prospects – RHP Drake Fellows (Vanderbilt), SS Tyler Fitzgerald (Loisville) and SS Nick Derr (Florida State) – are all verbally committed already.
