Several more ranked 2014 prospects have named their schools recently. A look at who’s going where:

+ Black Hawk College landed a major coup when it secured a commitment from two-way standout Alex Rice, a RHP/OF from Oak Park-River Forest HS. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Rice is currently ranked No. 71 in Illinois’ 2014 class. Known primarily for his offensive prowess, Rice recently emerged on the mound at the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase, when he sat 86-88 mph with arm-side life. Also a 7.13 runner with right-handed power potential, Rice should be a two-way contributor at Black Hawk.

+ John A. Logan JC landed one of the top available arms in the state when it received a commitment from Matthias Dietz, a physical 6-foot-4, 225-pound RHP from Sandburg HS. Currently ranked No. 78 in Illinois’ 2014 class, Dietz emerged last spring as a high-interest prospect, as he pitches in the mid-to-upper 80s. Dietz is the third high-level pitching prospect from Sandburg to commit, joining RHP Bryan Pall (Michigan) and RHP Sean Leland (Louisville).

+ Christian Bland, a versatile C/OF from Harlan HS, has committed to Purdue University-North Central. Currently ranked No. 159 in Illinois’ 2014 class, Bland recently showed well at the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase. He fired consistent 2.05-2.10 pop times; in the outfield, he moves athletically and was clocked at 86 mph. He also ran a 6.89 60.
