Inside the Rankings: 2019 Newcomers

By Drew Locascio
Illinois Scouting Director

The Illinois updated 2019 rankings were released yesterday and the original list of 15 has been expanded to 50 after following a ton of 2019 talent all summer. Yesterday we touched on the top of the class and today we look at newcomers who made a big impression since the last update.

Jumping into the top 10 of the 2019 class is left-handed hitting SS Brody Harding (Moline). Harding who hails from the Quad Cities was the top infielder at the PBR Underclass Prospect Games in Iowa and is already receiving significant Division I interest.

Two right-handed arms who sit in the mid 80’s, Ryan Keeley (Wheaton Warrenville South) and Matt Jachec (Hampshire) find themselves in the top 15 after strong performances this summer. Keeley who stands 6-foot-3, 190-pounds, has a loose, quick arm and sat 83-85 mph, touching 86 at the 2019 Top Prospect Games this summer. Jachec sat 84-86 mph with heavy sink and a sharp slider at the PBR Junior Future Games in August.

Two catholic school outfielders, Danny Doligale (Brother Rice) and Kendal Ewell (Marist), also showed well at the 2019 Top Prospect Games and come in at No. 13 and No. 16 respectively. Doligale is a left-handed hitter with present bat speed, quick hands and a level path. Ewell on the other hand is a right-handed hitter with easy juice and big power potential.

RHP Michael Walsh (Lyons Township), OF Michael Bolton (Brother Rice), C Dylan Post (Lincoln-Way Central), LHP Michael Prosecky (Nazareth), LHP Nathan Diamond (Oak Park-River Forest), and RHP Jacob Rosenkranz (Stevenson) round out some of the top newcomers in the top 25.
