By Illinois Scouting Staff

The Metro East Open is returning to Blazier Field in O’Fallon, IL. The showcase, taking place on Tuesday, June 26, features players from Illinois and Missouri with almost a third hailing from the latter. The open event will host over 60 uncommitted prospects from all graduating classes.

Last year’s Metro East Open currently boasts 14 attendees with college commitment to institutions around the midwest.

Looking at this year’s event, a few prospects that stand out on paper are RHP/SS Nick Fields (Galesburg, 2019), C Dalton Wallace (Edwardsville, 2019) and RHP Matthew Boyer (Edwardsville, 2019). Fields has run his fastball up to 87 mph in the past and is a steady infield defender. Wallace has a strong arm from the crouch and pull-side pop at the plate. Boyer was one of the top arms for Edwardsville this spring.
