Last year’s Metro East Open currently boasts eight participants with college commitments with plenty more to come.

When looking back at last year's event, some of the top prospects were RHP Joseph Crum (Springfield, 2021), INF Cameron Hailstone (Gillespie, 2021) INF/RHP Zachary Kempfer (Nashville, 2021), RHP Carter Sabol (Nokomis, 2020; Lakeland JC commit) and RHP/INF Evan Herpstreith (Nokomis, 2021), among others. Crum, Hailstone, Kempfer and Herpstreith are all now ranked in the 2021 class, while Sabol committed to Lake Land JC and graduated as the No. 132 ranked 2020 in the state.

Looking at this year’s roster, a 2021 to keep an eye on is CIF Peyton Apps (Pittsfield). Apps is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound, right-handed hitter with loose, strong hands and made a lot of hard contact to the pull-side gap at the Top Prospect-St. Louis event earlier this month.
