LANSING, IL - The No. 1 ranked Marist Redhawks hit the road to take on host Thornton Fractional South on a sunny, wind gusty afternoon. The Redhawks did their work at the plate early and often ending the game in five innings by a score of 13-0.

The first three Redhawks that came to the plate in the bottom half of the first touched home giving Marist an early three-run cushion. Leadoff man Max Malley (Evansville commit) reached on an error and scored courtesy of a laser double to left off the bat of Jason Hodges (Arkansas commit). Dane Thomas (Wright State commit) and Hodges both scored in the frame on heads up base running advancing on dirt ball reads that scurried away from the catcher.

Hodges struck again in the bottom half of the third, this time clubbing a no doubt three-run home run to left/centerfield. The Redhawks batted around in the seven run inning, Malley and Thomas each picked up RBI singles in the frame.

Brett Freiberg laced one of his two doubles in the fourth and came around to score easily on a stand up triple by Kendal Ewell (Eastern Kentucky commit). Frieberg smacked his second double of the game the very next inning, this time picking up an RBI.

The Rebels received their lone hit off the bat of Roberto Fernandez, driving a single to left field.

Marist junior RHP Hugh Sullivan picked up the victory for Marist in the two inning start allowing one hit with no walks. Seniors Jack Brannigan (Notre Dame commit), Frank Quinn and Denny Hogan all tossed hitless innings in the shutout. Senior LHP Nate Salas took the loss for TF South.
