CARY, IL -  No. 9 St. Charles North rallied back from a 4-0 deficit to defeat Cary-Grove 9-4 on Monday afternoon at Cary-Grove High School.

The Trojans of Cary-Grove got on the board first thanks to a solo home run by Eastern Illinois commit Ryan Ignoffo. Then, a series of defensive mishaps by St. Charles North would allow the Trojans to score three more runs in the fourth inning, extending their lead to 4-0.

It was not until Cary-Grove made the call to the bullpen in the fifth inning, relieving starter Robert Deischer, a North Central commit, who tossed four scoreless innings, surrendering two hits, walking three and striking out four. The Stars took the lead on two-run doubles by Justin Dunne and Egon Hein, making it 4-3 after five.

St. Charles North would extend their lead in the sixth inning with five more runs. Pat Belloch would knock a run in on a double, while Miami (OH) commit Steve Hamer and Erik Larson would account for an RBI each with singles in the inning.

Tristan Cazel picked up the win for the Stars, going five innings, allowing four runs, two earned, four hits, two walks and four strikeouts. John Hamer recorded the two inning save, allowing one hit, walking one and striking out two. Offensively, Dunne finished 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI and Steve Hamer collected two hits in four at-bats, driving in one and scoring another.

Cary-Grove was led by TCU commit Quinn Priester, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, as well as Ignoffo who was 2-for-4 with a home run and single.
