Sunday, july 9

GRB Rays 17U Green - 9
Silver Sluggers 17U Blue - 3

GRB Rays 17U Green defeated the Silver Sluggers 17U Blue 9-2 to capture their first PBR Badger State Battle championship.

Sluggers grabbed an early lead in the second on a triple by Josh Beier. Jimmy Klein followed that up with a single to give the Sluggers a 2-0. However, it would be all GRB from there.

The Rays answered with four runs of their own in the bottom half. After Cal Nowak got the Rays on the board with an RBI single, Alan Roden delivered a two-run triple to put the Rays in front. Tanner Kohlhepp would extend the lead to 4-2 with a triple of his own.

GRB continued to add to their lead with one in the third and four in the fourth. Roden led the Rays going 2-3 with three runs batted in. Jeff Holtz also chipped in with 2 RBIs.

Connor Manthey earned the win for the Rays, pitching 5.1 innings allowing three runs. Colten Schild pitched a clean seventh to seal the championship.

 

Silver Sluggers 17U Blue - 7
GRB Fox Valley Rays 16U - 4

The Silver Sluggers advanced to the Badger State Battle championship game with a 7-4 victory over GRB Fox Valley Rays in 10 innings.

Heading into the 7th inning, the Sluggers held a 4-0 lead but the Rays mounted a late comeback, sending the game to extra innings.

Carson Holin came up with the big hit for the Sluggers with an RBI triple that gave the Sluggers a 5-4 lead. Two batters later Luke Deprey lined a triple to right to extend the lead.

Holin carried the Sluggers offense going 3-4 with four runs batted in.

Saxton Shore pitched a clean 10th inning to seal the game for the Sluggers.

GRB Rays Green 17u 11
Wisconsin Vipers 0

GRB advanced to the finals of the Badger State Battle with an 11-0 5 inning victory over the Wisconsin Vipers.

GRB put up a seven spot in the bottom of the first. Tanner Kohlhepp and Alan Roden delivered RBI singles and Nick Herbst had a two run single in the first.

Randon Dauman went the distance for GRB allow two hits and struck out six over five shutout innings. 

Saturday, July 8

Silver Sluggers 17U Blue - 4
PBA Demarini 17U - 0

The Silver Sluggers knocked PBA Demarini 4-0 in the final game on the night. The Sluggers jumped out to an early lead thanks to an RBI triple by Luke DePrey. That would be all the offense the Sluggers starter Alex Oakley would need.

Oakley tossed a complete game shutout allowing just two hits for the Sluggers.

Eli Campbell suffered the loss for Demarini allowing four runs while striking out seven. Campbell settled down after a tough first inning but the Demarini offense could not get anything going. 

The Sluggers tacked on an extra run late to cruise to a 4-0 victory. 


GRB Rays 17U Green - 9
PBA Demarini 17U - 3


In both team's last game of the day, GRB Rays 17U Green defeated PBA Demarini 17U 9-3. The Rays jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the third inning. Demarini was able to chip away at lead ultimately getting it back to 3-2 game heading into the fifth inning.

The Rays offense came alive in the fifth plating six runs, giving them a comfortable 9-2 lead. Leadoff hitter Alan Roden had a strong night going 3-4 with a run scored. Brady Butler also went 2-3 with two runs driven in. Seven Rays hitters contributed with an RBI in the contest.

Jack Brown was dominant for the Rays striking out 12 over seven innings.

Christian Heywood went 1-2 for Demarini with an RBI. Justin Paasch, Danny Osep, Ryan Hughes also collected hits.

Kyle Humphres suffered the loss for Demarini. Mason Fanelle and Tanner Fields both pitched scoreless innings in relief.

STiKS 16u 11

Panthers 16u Red 1

STiKS jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning en route to an 11-1 6 inning victory.

With two outs and nobody on in the first STiKS scored three times. Miller Wallace and Riley LeTourneau doubled, Nathan Platter singled, and Jack Monis singled in the inning. LeTourneau finished the day 2-3 with three RBIs.

Jordan Steinbeck doubled and scored a run for the Panthers. Hunter Hackbarth went 2-2 with an RBI. 

Wisconsin Vipers - 5
 

Hitters 16U White - 0

Wisconsin Vipers defeated the Hitters 16U White 5-0. Pitcher Sam Rogers was the story of the game tossing a complete game shutout for the Vipers. Rogers allowed just one hit while striking out right.

The top of the order provided most of the offense for the Vipers. Brady Renfro and Tyler Chadwick

combined to 4-8 with five runs batted in. Leadoff hitter Alex Ryan went 2-4 with two runs scored.

Ryan Taylor, Kyle Yu, and Rogers also contributed with a hit a piece.

Keegan Torkilson suffered the loss for Hitters allowing four runs, three earned over four innings. Matthew Keller allowed one run over three innings.

Alexander Huissen went 1-3 for the Hitters.

Hitters 17U - 7
Thundercats 17U - 1

The Hitters 17U knocked off the Thundercats 7-1. Spencer Beacom tossed a complete game for the Hitters allowing just one run.

The Hitters got contributions up and down their lineup with six hitters collecting at least one hit. Jacob Campbell went 1-2 with an RBI double and scored a run. Michael Lepow and Malik Peters both scored two runs.

Marshall Lehmann suffered the loss for the Thundercats.

 Stevie Diderich collected the lone RBI for the Thundercats. Brett Strode went 1-1 with a walk.


GRB 17U Green - 11
 

Silver Sluggers Grey - 1

 Alan Roden led the offense for GRB Green with four hits in four at bats, as GRB Academy Rays 17U defeated Silver Sluggers Grey 17U 11-1. Roden singled in the first, tripled in the second, singled in the fourth, and tripled in the fifth collecting 3 RBI and run scored along the way.


GRB Academy Rays 17U grabbed an early lead on a single by Tanner Kohlhepp (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI) in the first that scored 2.

Zach Gustafson earned the win for GRB Academy Rays 17U. He went three innings, surrendering one run, three hits, and striking out six. Luke Ballweg took the loss for Silver Sluggers Grey 17U. He tossed three innings, surrendering seven runs, and seven hits.

Nick Herbst chipped in for GRB going 2-for-4 on the day with 3 RBI.

SHB Kards - 10
Bay Port 17U - 5

In Bay Port’s last game of the Badger State Battle they squared off against the 17U SHB Kards and lost the lead late in a 10-5 defeat. The game was tied at three with SHB Kards batting in the top of the fifth when Jack Bau singled off of Jett Thielke, driving in one run.

The Kards jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first on a single by Keagan Calchera scoring one run. Henry Jamieson followed that up later in the inning with an RBI single of his own.

Bay Port Varsity Legion knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the fourth inning but the Kards responded with a four run 5th and would not look back. Keagan Calchera was once again in the mix as he contributed with a RBI triple, going 2-for-4 on the day with 2 RBI.

Jalen Williams earned the win for SHB Kards. He pitched five innings, allowing three runs, five hits, and striking out three. Jett Thielke took the loss for Bay Port Varsity Legion. He threw four and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs, six hits, and striking out three.

Bay Port Varsity Legion had ten hits in the game. Brett Stanzel led Bay Port going 4-for-4, with a double, three runs scored, and a stolen base.

Hitters White 16U - 5
Silver Sluggers 16U Blue - 0


Hitters White 16U knocked off Silvers Sluggers 16U Blue 5-0. Nick Evert tossed a complete game shutout allowing just four hits while striking out eight.

Chase Bloxdorf led the way for the Hitters offense going 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Alexander Huissen went 1-3 with two runs batted in.

Slater Fitzgerald suffered the loss for the Sluggers. Sam Schroeder pitched two clean innings in relief.

Cooper Holewinski had another strong game with the bat going 2-3. Fitzgerald and Schroeder each collected a hit as well.


Silver Sluggers 17U Blue - 9

STiKS 17U - 2

The Silver Sluggers 17U Blue defeated STiKS Academy 9-2. After falling behind 2-0 early, the Sluggers had seven cross the plate in the third inning and did not look back from there.

Carson Holin had a strong performance for the Sluggers going 2-3 with two runs batted in. Luke DePrey and Saxton Shore also collected two RBIs a piece.

Jakob Millard earned the win going seven innings allowing two runs while striking out seven.

Jackson Brown suffered the loss for STiKS. Bryce Konitzer had a strong outing if relief pitching four innings, allowing just one run, and striking out seven.

Jacob Johnson had two hits for STiKS. Brandon Komar went 1-3 with an RBI.


Rhino Baseball 16u 3
Panthers Black 16u 2

Rhino starter Bailey Revels went the distance to pick up the 3-2 win over Panthers. Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on an RBI single from Zach Boehnlein.

Rhino answered back in the bottom of the fourth when Trey Tennessen tripled to lead off the inning and came in on a sacrifice fly from Henry Donaldson. Rhino added single runs in the fifth and sixth. Zach Ziesmer had an RBI double in the sixth.

Panthers threatened in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with no one out. Revels induced a fielder’s choice and a 5-3 double play to close out the game. 

Rhino 17U - 11
GRB 17U - Yellow - 5

In both Rhino 17U and GRB Rays 17U Yellow’s last game of the Badger State Battle, Rhino baseball took an early lead and GRB couldn't recover in an 11-5 loss.

GRB Rays 17U took an early lead in the second inning. TJ Snedden singled on the first pitch of the at bat in the second inning, scoring one run. But Rhino countered in the bottom half of the inning scoring 2 runs of their own off a Hayden Smith single.

Rhino built their lead up in the third scoring four more runs. Jonathan Rossing broke it open with a 2 RBI single as he drove a ball to right center. Connor Titterton followed it up with an RBI single of his own to bring the score after three to 6-1.

Brandon Diedrich earned the win for Rhinos. He went seven innings, allowing five runs, 12 hits, and striking out three. Logan King took the loss for GRB Rays 17U. He pitched four innings, allowing eight runs, eight hits, and striking out three.

Kolton Koch and Kade Bohman lead the way for GRB Rays. Koch on the day went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Kade was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The top of the order was productive for Rhino as both Eli Kramer (1-for-3) and Hunter Wright (2-for-3) scored three runs, while Zach Carney went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Tyler Brandenburg chipped in going 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored.


GRB Fox Valley Rays 16U - 4

Silver Sluggers 16U Gray - 0

GRB Fox Valley Rays knocked off Silver Sluggers Gray 16U 4-0. Rays starter Jack Habeck was the story in this contest, tossing a complete game shutout. Habeck scattered eight hits over seven innings while striking out six.

Grant Mullins and Noah Teage led the way for the Rays offense combining to go 5-6. Trevor Verhagen also added two hits and a run scored.

Kyle Jungers suffered the loss for the Sluggers allowing four earned runs over seven innings. Matthew Rusch, Max Hanson, and Jungers all collected two hits a piece. 

 

Hitters 17U - 11
SHB Kards 17U - 2

Hitters 17U defeated the SHB Kards 11-2. The Hitters offense was the story in this one piling up nine hits to go along with five walks.

Calvin Leeland and Jordan Bailey led the way with two hits a piece and combined to drive in three runs. Ben Cameron delivered the final blow with a triple, bringing in two runs. Seven of ten batters for the Hitters contributed with a hit.

Chandler Fochs earned the win for the Hitters going five innings, allowing two runs, five hits, striking out four.

Keagen Calchera took the loss for Kards. He tossed five innings, allowing four runs, four hits, and striking out four.

Bret Lecheler, Reese Vold, Cooper, Jake Salonek, Jake Bau, and Nolan Hutzler each collected one hit to lead Kards.

 

STiKS Academy 15u 10
SHB Kards 16u 5

STiKS took a 3-0 lead in the first and never trailed in a 10-5 victory over SHB Kards.

Jake Fischer got the game started with a single and advanced to second on an error. Two hole hitter Adam Polczynski drove in Fischer with an RBI single. Luke Fox came up with an RBI double in the inning as well.

STiKS Lucas Mazza finished the game going 4-4 with a triple and three RBIs.

Connor Stoik finished the game 1-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. 

Silver Sluggers 16u Grey 11
Brew State 5

Sliver Sluggers exploded for six runs in the sixth inning to defeat Brew State 11-5.

Matthew Rusch went 1-1 at the plate with two walks and a two run double for Silver Sluggers. Jake Karll went 1-1 with a single, two walks, and three runs scored.

Collin Kovnesky tripled and scored a run for Brew State. 

STiKS Academy 16U - 13
Bay Port Legion 16U - 0

STiKS Academy defeated Bay Port Legion 17U 13-0 in five innings. STiKS offense exploded for 13 hits, led by Drew Lechnir who went 4-4 for five runs batted in.

STiKS got contributions up and down the order. Leadoff hitter Zach Lechnir went 2-3 scoring four runs. Trey Krause collected two hits and drove in three runs. Miller Wallace and Riley LeTourneau also had two hits

Bailey Banaszynski earned the win for the STiKS going five scoreless innings allowing just one hit, striking out five.

Sam Salemi collected the lone hit for the Sluggers.


GRB Fox Valley 17U - 2
Silver Sluggers 17U Gray - 1

The GRB Fox Valley Rays 17U knocked off Silver Sluggers Gray 17U 2-1 in a pitchers duel. The starters were the story in this game.

Jordan Strick started for the Rays, going 3.2 innings allowing one unearned run and just three hits. Cameron Crawford pitched in relief going 2.2 scoreless, earning the win.

Colin Pulkrabek got the start for the Sluggers and threw five innings, allowing one run, striking out four.

A tie game heading into the bottom of the sixth, Will Monroe connected for a two out double. Monroe would come around to score on a Sluggers error to give the Rays a late 2-1 lead.

Christian Jack and Tanner Cole both had two hits for the Rays. Luke Ballweg collected two hits for the Sluggers.

FRIDAY, JULY 7 

 

 

Wisconsin Vipers 16U - 6
Rhino WI 16U - 5

The Wisconsin Vipers 16U defeated Rhino WI 16U 6-5. Trailing 5-4 heading into the seventh inning, the Vipers were able to mount a late rally to capture the victory.

Zach Storbakken led off the seventh for the Vipers with a walk and would later come around to score the game tying run on a triple by Brice Peth, his third RBI of the night. Peth would come around to score on a wild pitch, putting the Vipers ahead.

Tyler Chadwick had a strong night for the Vipers as well going 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Conner Kalinowski earned the victory for the Vipers going three innings allowing one run on three hits.

Griffin Klein led the charge for the Rhino offense going 1-3 with two runs batted in. Shane Ryan also collected two hits and an RBI.


GRB Fox Valley Rays 16U - 11
STiKS Academy 15U - 0

GRB Fox Valley 16U knocked off STiKS Academy 11-0 thanks to a ten run third inning. Carson Cook earned the victory going five shutout innings allowing just two hits while striking out six.

A scoreless game heading into the third, the Rays bats exploded in the third. Andrew Sweetalla got things started with a sharp single to center that scored two. Jack Habeck and Eli Berndt each added two RBIs a piece. The Rays wore out STiKS pitchers drawing eight walks in the contest.

Luke Fox suffered the loss for STiKS. Matt Klement and Jacob Cinelli each had a base hit.

Rhino WI 16U - 5
STiKS 16U - 3

Rhino 16U defeated STiKS 16U 5-3. A tie game heading into the fifth inning when Shane Ryan put Rhino ahead with an RBI single.

Bret Whiffen earned the win for Rhino WI 16U pitching seven innings, giving up three runs while, striking out four.  LeToursen took the loss for STiKS 16U. He tossed four innings, giving up three runs, ten hits, striking out five.

Rhino WI 16U collected 13 hits.  Whiffen, Trey Tennessen, Shane Ryan, and Gutschow each collected multiple hits for Rhino WI 16U .  Gutschow went 2-for-2 at the plate as he led the team with two runs batted in.

 

GRB Rays 17U Green 3

 

Hitters 17U 2

In what has become the premier and most intense matchup on Friday night of the Badger State Battle GRB edged Hitters 3-2.

GRB jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Connor Manthey tripled to start the inning and came home on an RBI groundout from Brady Butler.

Rays starter Dillon Nowicki dominated the first time through the order striking out five of the first ten hitters he faced. He got into some trouble in the top of the fourth when he hit Michael Lepow and allowed a single to Malik Peters. With the bases loaded and two outs Luke Howard drove a single up the middle to bring in two runs and give Hitters a 2-1 lead.

GRB answered right back in the bottom half of the inning, when Ryan Venne singled with one away. Jeff Holtz stepped to the plate and smoked an RBI double down the right field line to tie the game at two. Jarrett Fueger then came through with an RBI single to give GRB the lead for good.

Hitters threated in the fifth when they loaded the bases off GRB reliever Cedric Girard with one out. Girard settled in and got a strikeout and an infield pop out to end the threat.

After Jacob Campbell was hit by a pitch to start the sixth, GRB summoned closer Tanner Kohlhepp. Kohlhepp worked the final two frames striking out two to pick up the save. 

GRB Rays 17U Green - 8
Bay Port 17U - 1


The GRB Rays 17U Green defeated Bay Port 17U 8-1. The Rays offense exploded for 17 hits, led by Tanner Kohlhepp who collected three hits.

Jeff Holtz, Nick Herbst, Ryan Venne, Brady Butler, and Jarrett Fueger all had multiple hits. Alan Roden also went 1-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Trevor Tietz earned the win for the Rays, going seven innings allowing just one run, striking out eight.

For Bay Port, Bobby Tilot went 1-3 with an RBI.


GRB Fox Valley 16U - 7

Wisconsin Panthers 16U Red - 4

GRB Fox Valley Rays 16U knocked off the Wisconsin Panthers 16U 7-4. After falling behind early, a five run third inning for the Rays was the difference in the game.

Josh Czarneski got the Rays offense started with a leadoff double in the second and would later come around to score. Czarneski and Grant Mullins combined to 4-7 for the Rays with two runs batted in. Leadoff hitter Andrew Sweetalla reached base twice and scored two runs.

Carter Highline earned the win for the Rays going the distance allowing four runs on five hits.

Taylor Price was the bright spot for the Panthers offense going 1-2 with a double and a run batted in. Trent Blake took the loss allowing seven runs while striking out four.


PBA Demarini 2
STiKS Academy 17u 1

Harry Orth and Brandon Komar locked into a pitchers duel with Orth and PBA coming out on top 2-1.

With PBA leading 2-1 in the top of the seventh, Ian Drays reached base to start the inning for STiKS. After a failed sacrifice bunt attempt, Bryce Toussaint singled. Both runners advanced to second and third with only one away. PBA reliever Matthew True got a strikeout looking and a swinging to end the game.

PBA got on the board in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a sacrifice fly from Brady Fields and an RBI single from Nick Zeeveld.

Zach Karrels delivered an RBI single for STiKS. 

Hitters 17U 4 Rhino 17U 2

Hitters 17U jumped out to the early 3-1 lead after the first inning, thanks in part to a two RBI triple by Gunner Peterson (Wilmot, 2018). He would come around to score on Luke Howard’s (Martin Luther, 2018) RBI single. Hitters would hang on for the 4-2 victory.

Starting pitchers Patrick Foldy (Hamilton, 2018) of Hitters and Justin Sanders (Appleton North, 2017) of Rhino battled back and forth, but Sanders and the Rhinos were unable to overcome the strong first inning from Hitters.

PBA Demarini 17U 14
GRB Rays Fox Valley 17U 4

PBA Demarini 17U jumped out to an early 9-0 lead after one inning and never looked back, defeating GRB Rays Fox Valley 14-4 in five innings.

Demarini finished the game with 11 hits, Josh Leslie (Westosha Central, 2018), Zach Asik (Wisconsin Lutheran, 2018), Danny Osep (Franklin, 2018), and Ryan Hughes (Beloit Turner, 2018) each collected multiple hits in the game. Hughes also stole three bases.

Jake Fietz (De Pere, 2018) and Beau Schumacher (Kimberly, 2019) each drove in a run for GRB Rays Fox Valley, leading the way offensively for them.

 

STiKS Academy 15U 5
Brew State Rockhounds 16U 2

STiKS Academy 15U used a patient eye at the plate and timely hitting in a 5-2 victory over the Brew State Rockhounds 16U. The seven through 10 hitters on STiKS came up big, accounting for three of the teams four hits and four of the five RBIs.

Sean Walsh (Catholic Memorial, 2020) led STiKS offensively, going 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored. Jake Koslo (Catholic Memorial, 2020) also had himself a nice day at the plate, 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Colin Szymborski (Brookfield Central, 2020) went six shutout innings for STiKS.

Colin Kovnesky (Mukwonago, 2019) accounted for one of Brew State’s three hits and their only extra base hit, with a hard-hit ball to the right field fence. 

 

GRB Rays 17u Yellow 5
Thundercats 17u 1

GRB opened up a 5-0 lead in the top of the first, and that was all it would need in a 5-1 victory over Thundercats.

Connor McGowan, Connor Handel, Hunter Wickman, and Kade Bohlman all reached and came around to score in the first. Hunter Wickman and Josh Endicot drove in run in the first.

Ben Nordloh went the distance to pick up the win for GRB. Nordloh allowed just three hits and one run over seven innings to go along with seven strikeouts. 

Silver Sluggers 16U Blue - 3
Bay Port 16U - 2

The Silver Sluggers defeated the Bay Port Pirates 16U 3-2 in walk-off fashion. Slater Fitzgerald delivered the big knock for the Sluggers with a double in the bottom of the seventh that scored the game winning run.

Cooper Holewinski led the way for the Sluggers offense going 2-3 with an RBI and scored the game winning run. Kyler Schriever also contributed going 1-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.

Max Kerscher led the way for the Pirates offense going 2-3 with a walk and one run scored. Zac Paulsen also had two hits of his own.

Jonah Haffner pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win for the Sluggers.


Wisconsin Panthers Black 16U 3
Hitters White 16U 1

Wisconsin Panthers Black 16U came from behind to defeat the Hitters White 16U 3-1.

Hitters White starting pitcher Luke Uhwat (Richmond Burton, 2019) was on cruise control through five innings, with his offense spotting him a one-run lead in the first inning. Similarly, after a shaky first inning, Panthers’ starting pitcher Connor Langreder (West De Pere, 2019) dominated the opposition, racking up nine strikeouts over seven innings.

Alec Jonet (Pulaski, 2019) tied the game up for the Panthers in the sixth inning with an RBI single. Eli Davila (Oshkosh North, 2019) and Jake Lillge (Little Chute, 2019) provided the go-ahead and insurance RBIs for the Panthers in the seventh. Langreder came out for the seventh and shut the door emphatically, striking out three batters. 

 

Wisconsin Vipers 7
Wisconsin Panthers 16u Red 2

The Vipers exploded for five runs in the top of the 8th to defeat the Panthers 7-2.

Tied 2-2 heading to extras Carson Fluno singled to start the inning and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Hunter Day. Connor Kalinowski singled and advanced to second on the throw. After an intentional walk to leadoff man Alex Ryan, Ryan Taylor came through with a two run double to break the tie. Jess Ondell added a two run single in the five run inning. 

SHB Kards 16U 5
Silver Sluggers Blue 16U 2

SHB Kards 16U prevailed 5-2 over the Silver Sluggers Blue 16U in a tightly contested matchup. The Kards used a four run fourth inning to break the deadlock and open a 5-1 lead.

Luke Schemenauer (Chippewa Falls, 2019) knocked in the go-ahead run with the bases loaded on a single, to give the Kards the 2-1 lead. After a mound visit, Sluggers starting pitcher Jordan Schaefer (Mount Horeb, 2019) struck out the next two batters, but was unable to get out of the jam. Keagan Burg (St. Croix Central, 2019) hit an infield single for the Kards, that resulted in two more runs scoring.

The Sluggers would not go down without a fight though, as they managed to get the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but the Kards shut the door on any comeback.

Offensively, Justin Grosse (Madison West, 2019) had a 2-for-3 day at the plate for the Sluggers, including a first inning double. Kyler Schriever (Oregon, 2019) also had a multi-hit day with two singles.

SHB Kards 17u 3

Silver Sluggers walked off with a 13-3 six inning victory over SHB Kards.

Leading 11-3 in the bottom of the sixth with two on and one away. Noah Casali doubled into the right centerfield gap to bring in two runs to end the game. He finished the day 2-4 with a double, triple and three RBIs.

Silver Sluggers pounded out 13 hits in the victory. Connor Zagrodnik went 2-3 with 2 RBIs, Jordan VonBehren and Dylan Barganz each went 2-3 with 2 RBIs.

Brett Lecheler went 2-3 with a double and an RBI for the Kards. 

Brew State Rockhounds 16U - 8
BAY PORT LEGION 16U - 3

Brew State Rock Hounds 16U defeated Bay Port Legion 16U 8-3. A seven run second inning put the Hounds ahead early and cruised to victory from there.

 The middle of the order provided the thunder for the Hounds as Collin Kovnesky and Simon Dembiec combined to go 4-8 with 3 RBIs between the two.

Jackson Bishop earned the win for the Hounds, allowing three runs over four innings while striking out five. Cole Varin pitched a scoreless three innings to close the game.

Zac Paulsen provided the most offense for Bay Pot, going 2-3 with a walk and an RBI. Max Kerscher also contributed with two walks and two runs scored.

 

Rhino 17U - 4
GRB Fox Valley 17U - 1

Rhino Baseball 17U defeated GRB Fox Valley 17U 4-1. Jonathan Zacharias was the story of the game going the distance for Rhino, allowing just two hits and one unearned run while striking out seven.

Tyler Brandenburg got the offense started for Rhino with a hard hit double to lead off the second inning. Brandenburg would come around to score on a sac fly by Jacob Popp, his first of two RBIs in the game.

For the Rays, Christian Jack went 1-3 with a double and a stolen base.


Hitters 16u White – 6
SHB Kards 16u – 2

Hitters came back after going down 2-0 in the top of the first to defeat SHB Kards 6-2.

Hitters tied the game up in the bottom of the second on an RBI groundout by Aaron Quilling and a wild pitch. In the bottom of the fourth Hitters scored four times on an RBI single from Tucker Strommen and a two run double by Adam Hill.

Bryce Spaulding got the start for Hitters, and gave up two runs in the first inning. After the first he settled in allowing no runs and just three hits over the final six frames to pick up the win.

Cooper Kapanke went 1-3 with a double and an RBI for the Kards. 

 

 

Wisconsin Panthers Black 16U 12
Silver Sluggers Grey 16U 2

The Wisconsin Panthers Black 16U used an 11-run first inning, that saw the first nine batters of the game come across to score, to cruise to a five inning 12-2 victory.

Offensively, the Panthers were led by Brent Widder (Sheboygan North, 2019) who finished the game 1-for-1 with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Logan Eiden (Neenah, 2019) went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs, and a run scored. Jake Lillge (Little Chute, 2019) recorded a multi-hit game with two singles, two RBIs and a run scored.

Jason Jennerjohn (Hortonville, 2019) got the start for the Panthers, going two innings, striking out four in the process.

For the Silver Sluggers, leadoff man Max Hanson (Madison West, 2019) was perfect on the day, going 2-for-2 with two singles.

Bayport 17U 9
Rhino Baseball 17U 8

In a wild late-inning affair that saw 13 runs cross the plate in the sixth inning, the Bayport Pirates prevailed 9-8.

Trailing 2-1 heading into the top of the sixth, Rhino Baseball’s offense exploded for seven runs without recording an extra-base hit and drawing five walks. Zach Carney (Kimberly, 2017) came up big in the inning with a two-RBI single with two outs and the bases loaded.

Now up 8-2, the sixth inning offensive explosion continued, this time by Bayport. Jordan Bindas started the comeback with a two-RBI triple. A series of bases loaded walks led to Bayport being down 8-7 with one out. The unlikely hero for Bayport would come in the form of 10-hitter Sam Salemi, who came up huge in the clutch with a two-RBI single, giving Bayport the 9-8 lead.

Silver Sluggers 16U Blue 3


GRB Rays Fox Valley 16U defeated Silver Sluggers 16U Blue 7-3 in extra innings. Grant Mullins delivered the game-winning hit that drove in two runs in the top of the 8th inning to give the Rays the victory.

Sluggers starter Justin Grosse was the story early on as he shut down the Rays lineup allowing just two hits and no runs in the first five innings. The Sluggers were able to grab an early 2-0 lead. Kyler Schriever, Casey Hellenbrand, and Cooper Holewinski led the way for the Sluggers with two hits each.

The sluggers carried a 2-0 lead into the 6th inning when the Rays bats finally woke up. After a pair of leadoff walks, the Rays were able to scratch across three runs to take a 3-2 lead. The Sluggers responded in the bottom half with a run of their own to tie the game, ultimately sending it to extra innings.

After Mullins drove in two runs in the top of the eighth, the Rays tacked on two more insurance runs. Glavine Matthes shut down the Sluggers in the final two innings to earn the win.

Rhino Wisconsin 16U 0

The Wisconsin Panthers Red 16U shutout Rhino Wisconsin 16U 5-0 in the final game of the day. Starting pitcher Cole went five innings for the Panthers, striking out seven in route to the win.

The Panthers broke the deadlock in the third inning with three runs, and would later tack on two more insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Bubba Thompson (Appleton West, 2019) led the Panthers offensively, going 2-for-3 on the day with two singles and an RBI.

Mitchell Flett (Peshtigo, 2019) attempted to start a Rhino rally with a late-inning tomahawked double to left-center field, but the Panther pitchers were able to work out of the jam.

Silver Sluggers scored in every inning but one en route to a 9- victory over STIKS.

Silver Sluggers pounded out 14 hits and took advantage of a number of STiKS errors in the game. Luke Ballweg lead the way going 3-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Sam Smith, Connor Zagrodnik, Noah Casali, and Owen Greene each chipped in with two hits.

Jordan VonBehren went the distance for Silver Sluggers allowing just four hits and three runs over seven innings to pick up the win.

Ian Drays reached base three times going 1-1 with a single and two walks.

Wisconsin Panthers Black 16U 10
SHB Kards 16U 0

Wisconsin Panthers Black 16U used an offensive onslaught to defeat the SHB Kards 16U 10-0 in five innings. The Panthers pitching staff limited the Kards to only one hit on the afternoon.

Carter Robinson (Appleton North, 2019) got things stated for the Panthers with a leadoff triple. Robinson came around to score on a Brent Widder (Sheboygan North, 2019) sacrifice fly to center field, the first of the three first innings runs.

Robinson knocked in an RBI of his own in the second with a double, and would score on another Widder sacrifice fly, extending their lead to 6-0 after two.

The Panthers were able to add four more insurance runs, taking their lead to 10-0 after four.

Jack Piper (Eau Claire Memorial, 2020) recorded the Kards lone hit of the day.

STiKS 16U 1

Silver Sluggers Grey 16U were the more advantageous ball club in their 5-1 victory over STiKS 16U.

Silver Sluggers got out to an early lead and never looked back. The Silver Sluggers were opportunistic, taking advantage of poor defensive play and inconsistent pitching by STiKS.

Silver Sluggers Blue 17U squeaked by Thundercat Baseball in a 2-1 pitcher’s duel.

Taylor Jansen (Sun Prairie, 2018) started for the Silver Sluggers, going back and forth with Thundercat pitcher Josh Bilau (Fort Atkinson, 2018).

Thundercat had the tying-run on third and winning-run on second with two-outs, but were unable to capitalize.

 

Wisconsin Vipers 16U 2
Brew State Baseball 16U 2

The Wisconsin Vipers 16U and Brew State Baseball 16U took their matchup into extra innings, but after ten innings, the game was declared a tie, 2-2, due to time limit.

Brew State was first to get on the board with a run in the fourth inning. Their lead would be short lived, as the Vipers responded with two runs in the top of the fifth. The back-and-forth battle continued as Brew State came back with a run of their own in the bottom of the fifth, knotting the score at two apiece.

Hunter Day (Bloomington Jefferson (MN), 2020), Brice Peth (Ripon, 2020), and Tyler Chadwick (N/A, 2020) paced the Vipers with two hits apiece, Day and Peth contributed RBIs as well. Jess Ondell (LaCrosse Aquinas, 2020) was handed the no-decision after tossing eight innings of two-run ball, striking out eight along the way.

Drew Dlugopolski (Dominican, 2019) picked up an RBI for Brew State on a single. Simon Dembiac (Lake Country Lutheran) picked up the no-decision after tossing nine innings.

GRB rays fv 17U 7

GRB Rays Yellow 17 U defeated GRB Fox Valley 17 U 14-7 in a high scoring affair. After falling behind early, the GRB Rays Yellow exploded for 10 runs in the second inning to cruise to their first victory of the weekend.

Connor Handel and Karsen Rupnow led the way for GRB Yellow 17U combining for four hits and seven runs batted in. Kade Bohlman, Kolton Koch, and Derek Lee all had two hits each as well.

Derek Koenen pitched a complete game for GRB Yellow 17 U allowing 3 earned runs over seven innings while striking out five batters.

GRB Fox Valley 17 U tried to mount a late comeback but fell up short. Jack Christian and Wes Sommers led the way for Fox Valley with two hits a piece. Will Monroe contributed with one hit and two runs batted in.

STiKS Academy 17U 10
SHB Kards 17U 3

The STiKS Academy 17Us disposed of the SHB Kards 17U 10-3 in the opening round of pool play at the Badger State Battle Thursday afternoon.

Jalen Williams (Eau Claire North, 2018) started the game with a leadoff triple to right-center for the Kards. He would come around to score, giving the Kards the early 1-0 lead. STiKS responded with a three-run first of their own, capped off by a towering solo home run over the left field fence by Ian Drays (Jefferson, 2018).

STiKS used a five-run third inning to distance themselves from the Kards at 8-1. Six STiKS’ players reached base by way a of a base hit, including back-to-back doubles by Drays and Zach Karrels (Arrowhead, 2018). STiKS tacked on two more runs in the fourth to give them their largest lead at 10-1.

The Kards did not go down without a fight, plating two runs in the top of the seventh, and ending the game with the bases loaded.

Logan Rios (Delavan-Darien, 2018) of STiKS completed the game a perfect 3-for-3 with three singles and two-runs scored. Drays finished 2-for-3 with a HR and two RBIs for STiKS. Williams lead the Kards, going 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored.

Derek Polczynski (Arrowhead, 2018) picked up the win for STiKS, tossing four innings, allowing two hits and issuing zero walks.

Bay Port 16u 4
STiKS Academy 15u 2


Bay Port jumped out to a two run lead in the bottom of the first en route to a 4-2 victory to open up the Badger State Battle.

Bay Port leadoff man Brad Bernklau was hit by a pitch to start the game and Max Kerscher followed up with a walk. Zac Paulsen drove in Bernklau with the first run of the game. Kerscher made his way home on a wild pitch. Grant Maus singled to open the bottom of the second and came around to score on an RBI groundout by Kerscher.

STiKS scored both of its runs in the fourth inning. Sean Walsh singled and Derek Sowinski doubled to put runners on second and third with one away. Matt Klement dumped a single in front of the centerfielder to score Walsh. The ball got passed the outfielder and allowed Sowinksi to come in with the second run.

Bay Port added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to push the score to 4-2.

Jett Thielke picked up the win for Bay Port. STiKS reliever Jake Fischer retired all six batters he faced.
