PBR Illinois Pitcher of the Week: Evan Foster

By: Peter Hamot

Maroa-Forsyth has been a team to watch for the entirety of the season, currently boasting a 26-4 record up to this point. Evan Foster (2023) has undoubtedly been a key contributor to their success, and he turned in the performance of a lifetime this past Saturday; hurling a perfect game in a 3-0 win over Williamsville in the Regional Championship. For his outstanding efforts, Foster has been named this week’s Pitcher of the Week.

The southpaw toed the rubber in the Regional Championship game and fired a seven inning perfect game, striking out 12 opposing hitters along the way. Not only did he dominate on the mound, he also went 2-for-2 at the plate with a triple, double, two runs scored and two walks. His coach would go on to say “This was the best pitching performance I have ever seen in high school baseball in 31 years of coaching”.

After graduating, Foster will head to the United State Naval Academy, as he accepted his appointment back in late April.

We're thankful for the POTW submissions we received from the coaches across the state. The players who garnered POTW consideration will earn a place within Friday's Diamond Notes story, so be on the lookout for that by the end of this week.
