Porsche Exchange Player of the Week: RHP Zach Shutan

Deerfield senior RHP Zach Shutan has been named this week’s Porsche Exchange Player of the Week thanks to his outstanding performance on the mound last week for the Warriors.

Last week Shutan twirled two, complete game shutouts, against Chicago Suburban League opponents to lift the Warriors conference record to 5-3.

Tuesday on the road against rival Glenbrook North, Deerfield won 2-0. Shutan went all seven innings for his first complete game shutout on the week. Shutan scattered four hits, struck out seven, and walked one.   

Saturday morning in a 10-0 five-inning victory over Niles West, Shutan was at it again. Battling through a steady rain, Shutan went all five innings, allowed two hits, struck out four walked three and did not allow a run.

Shutan has recorded three shutouts in CSL games (Maine South win 3-0) and has an an overall record of 5-1 this spring. 

His season stats are as follows: 44.2 IP, 24 H, 3 ER, 37 K, 11B and an ERA of 0.47.

For his efforts, Shutan has been named the Porsche Exchange Player of the Week for the week of April 24 – April 30.
