Recruiting news from across Illinois

Recruiting news from around Illinois:

Jack Richmond, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound LHP from Loyola Academy HS, has committed to the University of Iowa. The long and athletic left-hander served as the big-game pitcher for the Ramblers last season as a junior. Pitching in the toughest conference in the state, Richmond finished with a 2.77 ERA, which included a complete-game three-hitter against Mt. Carmel and a complete-game shutout in regional play.

Richmond joins fellow LHP Ryan Borucki (Mundelein HS), C Blake Hickman (Simeon HS) and INF Devin Pickett (Marian Catholic HS) in the Hawkeyes’ recruiting class from Illinois.

Sean Beesley, an athletic OF from Hinsdale South HS, has committed to Illinois State. Beesley is a top-level runner who adds more depth to the Redbirds’ strong recruiting class.

Nick Huber, a pitcher from Brimfield/Elmwood HS, has committed to Illinois Central College. As a junior, Huber missed most of the season recovering from a torn ACL. He returned in early May and went 2-1 with 1 save and a 3.50 ERA in 22 innings. As a sophomore, he went 3-1 with a 2.33 ERA for the Indians.

Zack Newhuis, a 6-foot, 145-pound infielder from Crete-Monee HS, has committed to Prairie State College. Newhuis recently participated in the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase.

Kerry Hickerson, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound 1B from Conant HS, has committed to Kankakee Community College.
