Recruiting news from across Illinois:

Sam Hopkins, a RHP from No. 19 O’Fallon HS, has committed to SIU-Edwardsville. Hopkins has been dominant for the Panthers over the last two seasons. As a junior, he posted a 10-2 record with a 2.57 ERA. This spring, Hopkins is 4-1 with a 1.00 ERA in 35 innings.

Tyler Woolbright, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound two-way talent from Rockford Lutheran HS, has committed to North Park University. Woolbright was a standout performer during the Fall Prospect Program last fall. Earlier, North Park also received a commitment from 6-foot-3 3B/RHP Jason Meger from Niles West HS.

The University of Chicago landed a pair of prospects when it received commitments from Whitney Young catcher Tim Sonnefeldt and Providence 1B/OF Kevin Tully.

Luke Stewart, a 3B from Collinsville HS, has committed to Illinois Central College. Stewart currently has 4 homers, 5 doubles and 12 RBI for the Kahoks.

Jordan Grooms, a four-year starter for Marshall HS, has committed to Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Joe Gray, an OF from Oak Lawn HS, has committed to Elmhurst College.
