Diego Solares & Kevin Cronin
Illinois Scouting Staff

On Tuesday, August 10th, the PBR Illinois staff hosted the Illinois Senior Games at Triton College in River Grove. The invite-only event featured 70+ uncommitted 2022 prospects from all across the state. Players displayed their talents in both a workout setting and added game play.

Shortly after the event's conclusion our Illinois Scouting Director, Drew Locascio, published a Quick Hits piece, highlighting some of the day's takeaways, which you can find HERE.

Today, we'll continue our post-event coverage by diving into the traditional data collected from the event inside this traditional stat story. As the week rolls on, our staff will continue to further analyze the numbers we collected from this event, thanks to our partners at TrackMan and Blast Motion.

Read below for a look at a few statistical standouts and those who topped our event leaderboards.

+ INF Colin Lewandowski (Neuqua Valley, 2022) was an all-around statistical standout from this event. The 6-foot-0, 195-pound right-handed hitter started his day off by running a 6.62 in the 60-yard dash, clocking in at the third fastest time on our lasers. He was also one of two players to record a max infield velocity of 90 mph, tying for the event lead.

+ OF Angelo Luna (St. Laurence, 2022) entered Tuesday as a former statistical standout from previous showings and the No. 52 overall prospect in the Illinois' 2022 class didn't disappoint. A wiry 6-foot, 180-pound athlete, Luna's 96 mph max exit speed in batting practice ranked amongst the event leaders. He paced the event in max throwing velocity from the outfield as well, bumping his best bullet up to the 92 mph mark.

+ Recently seen at our Rake City Scout Day, C Brian Twomey (Riverside Brookfield, 2022) is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound right-handed hitter that led this catching crop in a handful of statistical categories. He barreled his best ball up at 96 mph in BP, which was towards the top of our exit velocity leaderboard. Twomey reached a 78 mph high from the crouch during his defensive workout and his best pop clocked in at 2.01 seconds.

+ With the fastest recorded 60-yard time during our summer season, OF Myles Supurgeci (Mt. Carmel, 2022) is unquestionably one of the fastest incoming seniors in the state, running a 6.45 in the 60-yard dash.

+ RHP Tyler Altenbaumer (St. Joseph-Ogden, 2022) is a strong, compact 5-foot-8, 175-pound athlete that we last saw at our Preseason All-State event in March prior to this updated look. He paced all arms from this event in max fastball velocity, topping at 89 mph during gameplay. Altenbaumer is presently ranked No. 55 overall in the incoming senior class.

+ OF Drew Wellington (Mundelein, 2022) continues to show out as one of the more athletic prospects still on the market, regardless of class. A strong 5-foot-10, 165-pound left/left athlete, Wellington ran cruised his way to a 6.60 time in the 60-yard dash and also uncorked an 88 mph high from the outfield, tying for the second-hardest throw of the day.
