Burbank, IL - On a windy Wednesday afternoon, the Burbank Sectional's top-seeded St. Laurence Vikings cruised past the Morgan Park Mustangs by a score of 15-0 in the Regional Semifinals. The Vikings scored a run in each inning to run-rule Morgan Park in four innings and secured themselves a spot in the Regional Championship game.

St. Laurence starter LHP Christopher Seropian (uncommitted) did not allow a single Morgan Park baserunner to reach all game. In his three innings of work, Seropian struck out five batters and threw 39 pitches, 29 of them for strikes. RHP Max Engstrom (Indiana Wesleyan commit) entered the game in the fourth inning and struck out a batter.

The Vikings bats got hot early in the game and stayed that way throughout. After a single by right fielder Jacob Vera, Matt McCormick (West Virginia) crushed a home run to straightaway center field to put St. Laurence on the board. First baseman Vytus Valincius (South Carolina) singled up the middle and would later score on one of Kevin McCormick’s two doubles on the day.

St. Laurence would score seven runs in the second inning, four in the third, and the game-ending run in the fourth. Kevin McCormick (two doubles) and Vera (two triples) had multiple extra-base hits in the game, while Marc Babicz and Valincius each found themselves on base more than once.

Seropian earned the victory for the Vikings and Daccarius Chapman took the loss for Morgan Park.

St. Laurence will play the winner of Lemont and Evergreen Park on Saturday, May 25th at 11am for a chance to advance to the Sectional Semifinals and stay alive in the IHSA state tournament.
