St. Louis - Underclass Showcase: Position Player Analysis

By Drew Locascio
Illinois Scouting Director

The St. Louis - Underclass Showcase took place on Saturday, October 13th at GCS Credit Union Ballpark in Sauget, IL. The event featured over 40 underclassmen from Illinois and Missouri.

Yesterday, we continued the coverage of the event with a look at the pitchers from the event. Today we take a look at the more than 35 position players who participated in a pro-style workout. Below we separated the Illinois and Missouri and ranked them by state. 2021 Hayden Moore took the top spot in Illinois. Moore is a highly-athletic switch-hitter who looks natural on the infield and in the outfield.

In Missouri, Chase Beattie is a high-follow 2022. Beattie has advanced physicality in the right-handed batter’s box and profiles as an above-average third baseman.

The lone Kentucky prospect, Reese Hutchins should also be one to watch moving forward. Hutchins is a physical, left-handed hitting catcher with a flat bat and strong arm from the crouch.
