St. Louis - Underclass Showcase: Preview

By Illinois Scouting Staff

For the first time, the PBR staff will head to GCS Credit Union Ballpark to host the fall’s St. Louis - Underclass Showcase on Saturday, Oct. 13. This event is open to all high school prospects belonging to the 2020 through 2022 high school graduating classes. Currently, there are nearly 40 players planning on attending the underclass event, from both Illinois and Missouri, with plenty of space still available to register.

There is still time to register for the event by CLICKING HERE. For a look at the most up-to-date roster, CLICK HERE.

When looking at the roster, there are a trio of 2021s from Illinois to pay attention to: C Matthew Hunzinger (Dieterich), RHP/3B Zachary Kempfer (Nashville Community), and OF/INF Hayden Moore (Edwardsville), among others. Hunzinger is a 6-foot, 145-pound, left-handed hitter with a simple, hands-y swing. Kempfer has a strong 6-foot-4, 200-pound frame, present bat speed and a high-ceiling on the mound. Moore is a wiry, athletic, switch-hitter that runs a 6.88 runner in the 60.

Hayden Moore (6.26.18)

From Missouri, INF/RHP Cole Krieger (Lafayette, 2020) will meet us at GCS Ballpark as a top-50-ranked prospect within Missouri’s Class of 2020. Krieger, a legitimate two-way prospect, has a 6-foot-1, 180-pound, athletic, well-proportioned build and a repeatable, fast, left-handed swing. On the mound, he sat in the low 80s last winter. It will be interesting to see what kind of leaps he’s made over the past eight months.
