The Buzz: Top Prospects Make Commitments

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

There were several high profile commitments this week with top prospects in the committing to ACC and SEC programs. Three of them are in the 2019 class with RHP Nick Maldonado (Seton Hall Prep, NJ) committing to Vanderbilt, C Eric Grintz (Downington West HS, PA) committing to North Carolina and SS/RHP Travis Odom (Blackman HS, TN) committing to Arkansas.

Odom and Grintz both participated in the 2016 Prep Baseball Report Future Games. Odom was one of the top 2019s there and showed impressive two-way ability with his athleticism at shortstop, power at the plate and mid-80s fastball on the mound. Grintz is the ninth of 15 Team Pennsylvania players to commit.

Maldonado is the top prospect in New Jersey and has a lean, athletic frame and sits 84-86 with his fastball.

In Florida, the No. 9 2018, SS Nander De Sedas (Montverde Academy, FL), committed to Florida State. He’s a quick-twitch athlete and hits from both sides of the plate.
