Top 10 Profiles of 2021: No. 4 Ryan Bakes

Coming in at No. 5 for the most viewed profiles of 2021 is South Carolina commit, Ryan Bakes. Currently the top ranked catcher in the state, Bakes helped to lead an extremely talented Huntley Red Raiders squad to an overall record of 32-3 in the 2021 IHSA season and a final PBR Power 25 ranking of No. 6. The future Gamecock had an impressive 2021 campaign, showing well at multiple events such as the Preseason All-State and the Midwest ProCase, climbing up from the No. 6 position to No. 2 in the state. 

Bakes possesses an extremely impressive toolset for his age. As a 6.70 60-runner, the right-handed hitter utilizes a mature approach at the plate to hit for both power and average, showcasing some of the rawest bat-strength in the entire class with a short and compact swing, showing the ability to repeat. On the other side of the ball, Bakes works to present pitches around the zone with soft/presenting hands, also acting as a willing blocker. Bakes also has proved to be able to handle the run game, recording a max catcher velocity of 84 mph and a top pop-time of 1.92 with quick/athletic footwork out of the crouch. 

It will be exciting to see what this coming season brings for Bakes as he looks to help lead Huntley back to another deep playoff run.
