Top 10 Profiles of 2021: No. 6 Jack Lausch

By: Peter Hamot
Area Scout

The Brother Rice multi-sport standout Jack Lausch comes in at No. 6 for the most-viewed profiles of 2021. For the first part of the year, Lausch was among the top uncommitted talents in the region, as he also pursued a two-sport path alongside football. While Lausch excelled on the diamond, he had also been making a name for himself at quarterback.

Ultimately, Lausch landed a commitment to Notre Dame in both sports, though the recent coaching changes in South Bend pushed him to reassess his options, and he since found a new home at Northwestern. Lausch was named the Chicago Catholic League - Blue Player of the Year in football this past fall, though it remains to be seen if his time out in center field will continue in Evanston – though, his skill set is plenty enough to make a sizable Big Ten impact, should he decide to pursue both sports.

Regardless, Lausch's eventful year made his profile a popular spot. Here's a look at how he's performed across our looks in 2021.

Scouting Report

5/05/21

Ranked No. 7 in the Illinois 2022 class. Highly-athletic, 6-foot-2, 185 pound left-handed hitting outfielder. One of the best athletes in the state; also a high-level QB1 prospect in football. Offensively has a professional approach; mature presence in the box, starts in an athletic stance, toe-tap into a short stride to keep himself in rhythm. Lighting-quick hands, short path, hands work on top of the baseball. Ball jumps off his bat with backspin. Showed power to the pull-side with a towering homerun. Above average zone-awareness and pitch recognition. Aggressive on the basepaths, always looking to take the extra base with quality jumps and reads off the pitcher. Defensively, profiles in center field. Quick first step, proper angles and routes, covered a lot of ground and was able to consistently cut off balls in the gap. Arm played above average in IO with strong/accurate throws to all bases. High-level 2022 prospect.
