Prep Baseball Report Missouri/Kansas held the Top Prospect Games - MOKAN August 11 at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri.  Over 30 players from the region attended in the 2020 and 2021 class.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Here is a closer look at the Pitchers  from the event, listed in alphabetical order.

Pitchers

Bryan Bartels RHP / 1B / Olathe West, KS / 2021

Bartels has a large frame at 6-foot-3, 180-pounds is a right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021. Bartels has a controlled and repeatable delivery, shorter leg lift, slight across the body stride, gains momentum down the mound, high three-quarter release, long and clean arm action, showed a good mix of fastballs and curveballs during game action. Fastball sits 82-84 mph, tops at 85 mph, good amount of strikes, late arm side run to his two seam fastball, showed command to his arm side part of the plate, curveball has swing and miss potential, sharp and late bite at times with 1-to-7 shape, 72-75 mph, changeup has occasional fading action, near fastball arm speed, 75-76 mph.

Lance Bolles RHP / 2B / Kearney , MO / 2021

Bolles is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound, right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021class. Bolles’ delivery is repeatable, controlled leg lift, slight hitch after he gathers his weight at leg lift, across the body stride, gains momentum down the mound, creates downhill tilt with his shoulders, regular effort, hides the ball well with his arm swing and high glove side action, over the top release. Fastball sat 78-81 mph at the event, tops at 82 mph, thrown for strikes, located the ball to the bottom of the strike zone, curveball is thrown with near fastball arm speed, 12-to-6 shape, sharp bite at times, changeup shows fading action to his arm side, thrown for strikes, 69-72 mph at the event.

Jacob Ciafullo OF / SS / Raytown , MO / 2020

Ciafullo is a 5-foot-10 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri's 2020 class.  On the mound, Ciafullo has stocky and athletic build, delivery has fluid and smooth movements, rushed at times, mostly repeatable, fluid loose arm action, high three-quarter release. Fastball is 73-75 mph, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, some arm side run, curveball is 65-67 mph, mostly gradual action but did show sharp bite at times, 11-to-5 shape, thrown for strikes. During game action Ciafullo mixed pitches to keep hitters off balance.

Alex Foster RHP / 1B / Park Hill South, MO / 2021

Foster is a 5-foot-10 210-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri's 2021 class. Foster has a thick frame and stocky build, works with a good pace, delivery has a quick tempo, rushed at times, repeats delivery, clean arm action, three-quarter release. Fastball was thrown for a high percentage of strikes, arm side run, sat 78-81 mph at the event and topped at 83 mph, curveball was 71-72 mph at the event, mostly gradual action, 11-to-5 shape.

Eric Harding RHP / 3B / Leavenworth, KS / 2020

Harding is a 5-foot-9, 180-pound, right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. He has a simple delivery, smooth and controlled leg lift, leverages front side, hides the ball well from right-handed hitters, slight across the body stride, some effort to delivery as he gains momentum down the mound, clean arm action, high three-quarter release. Fastball showed occasional life to Harding’s arm side, thrown for strikes, 78-80 mph at the event, curveball is thrown at near fastball arm speed with 11-to-5 shape, 62-66 mph at the event, gradual action.

Karstan Holmes 3B / RHP / Blue Springs South, MO / 2021

Holmes is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound, right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. Holmes is lean, long limbs and a projectable frame. Delivery is athletic, connected, repeatable, arms and legs coming at the hitter, slight across the body stride, creates downhill tilt with shoulders as he accelerates down the mound, clean arm action, over the top release. Fastball has heavy action between 78-80 mph, will turn it over for more arm side run, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, curveball shows swing and miss potential, 12-to-6 shape, sharp downward action, changeup is thrown with near fastball arm speed, 66-69 mph with arm side run.

Josh Kellogg OF / RHP / Desoto, KS / 2021

Kellogg long and lean with a projectable 6-foot-1, 150-pound frame. Kellogg’s delivery is at a slower tempo, repeatable, creates downhill tilt with his shoulders, accelerates down the mound, hides the ball well with his back swing and higher glove side action, arms and legs coming at the hitter, loose arm action that works from a over the top release. Fastball sits 69-72 mph, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, curveball shows 12-to-6 shape, mostly gradual action, around the strike zone.

Tyler Leachner 3B / RHP / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2021

Leachner is a 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas' 2021 class. Leachner has a simple delivery with fluid and smooth movements, controlled leg lift, in line stride, gains momentum down the mound, repeats with regular effort, clean arm action, high three-quarter release. Leachner’s fastball sits 75-78 mph, tops at 80 mph, late action to arm side, curveball is 63-66 mph, gradual action, 11-to-5 shape, thrown for strikes, changeup is 69-72 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Gage Norman OF / RHP / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2020

Norman is a 6-foot-1 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas' 2020 class. On the mound, Norman has a lean and wirey frame, long limbs with loose arm action working from a high three-quarter release. His delivery is mostly smooth with a high leg lift, max effort, sinks into back side, leverages front side, accelerates down the mound with a quick arm. Fastball sits consistently 79-81 mph with arm side run and occasional sink, curveball is thrown aggressively between 66-69 mph, changeup shows some swing and miss potential, 73-76 mph, quality fading action, fastball arm speed.

Sterling Pierce 3B / RHP / Andover, KS / 2021

Pierce is a 6-foot- 175-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas' 2021 class. On the mound, Pierce shows some physicality on the mound, delivery is smooth with some rhythm, hands and front leg work in sync, controlled leg lift, gains momentum as he works down the mound, hides the ball well with higher glove side action, long arm with a high three-quarter release. Fastball sits 78-82 mph, tops at 83 mph, good command of arm side with slight arm side run, high percentage of strikes, curveball is 64-68 mph, gradual action with 11-to-5 shape, changeup shows some sinking action at 72-73 mph.

Chandler Powell C / 1B / Civic Memorial, IL / 2020

Powell is a 5-foot-11 192-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois' 2020 class.  On the mound, Powell uses his stocky build and explosive lower half as he works down the mound, repeats delivery with regular effort, controlled leg lift with an in line stride, athletic finish, over the top release. Showed ability to effectively field position and mix fastball and curveball during game action. Fastball is 73-76 mph, strikes to both sides of the plate, occasional late arm side run, curveball is 62-66 mph, gradual 12-to-6 shape, showed some feel for pitch.

Conley Rae LHP / 1B / Owasso, OK / 2020

Rae’s frame and big body establish some presence on the mound, delivery has some rhythm to it, creates downhill tilt with shoulders, works aggressively down the mound, max effort delivery, showed ability to repeat at times, quick arm with a high three-quarter release. Fastball is heavy with arm side run and occasional sink, 83-86 mph, around the zone, curveball proves to be Rae’s best pitch, swing and miss potential, sharp downward action, 1-to-7 shape, thrown with fastball arm speed, changeup is 75-76 mph, arm side run.

Seth Roggenkamp OF / LHP / DeSmet Jesuit, MO / 2020

Roggenkamp is a 6-foot-1 190-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri's 2020 class. On the mound Roggenkamp shows some rhythm to his delivery, controlled leg kick, hands in sync with his leg lift, glove tap into transfer, smooth actions down the mound, at a quicker tempo, clean arm action with a high three-quarter release. During game action Roggenkamp mixed three pitches for strikes. Fastball sat 77-79 mph, tops at 80 mph, high percentage of strikes, arm side run, feel for curveball, 64-66 mph, gradual action, near fastball arm speed, changeup is 66-67 mph, swing and miss potential, showed some depth.

Brayden Tower RHP / 3B / Desoto , KS / 2021

Tower is a 6-foot-1 190-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas' 2021 class. On the mound, Tower has a projectable frame, long limbs, athletic delivery with some rhythm, works at a quicker tempo, downhill, hides the ball behind a strong glove side, quick arm, three quarter release, repeats with regular effort. Fastball sits 75-80 mph, tops at 81 mph, arm side run, strike thrower, curveball is 64-66 mph, slurve type spin, 10-to-4 shape, mostly gradual action.

Teron Williams RHP / SS / Belton , MO / 2020

Williams is a lean and athletic 5-foot-10, 140-pound, right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. On the mound, Williams has an easy delivery, arms and legs coming at the hitter, deceptive as he hides the ball behind his body up until release, will coil around drive leg at leg lift occasionally to disrupt the hitters timing, quick loose arm action working from a low three-quarter release. Fastball shows life to William’s arm side, sits 77-79 mph, tops at 80 mph, around the strike zone, slider is 62-66 mph, sweeping action at times, around the strike zone. Williams projectable frame, athleticism and loose arm action make him a prospect to keep an eye on as he continues his development.
