Top Prospect Games - St. Louis: Preview

By Illinois and Missouri Scouting Staff

The second annual St. Louis - Top Prospect Games is coming Tuesday, June 5th at Roy E. Lee Field on the campus of SIU-Edwardsville. Currently there are over 65 uncommitted 2019 prospects from Illinois and Missouri. The summer Top Prospect events draw between 70-100 colleges from across the country.

This is an invite only event and is exclusive to the top 2019 uncommitted prospects in each state. Last year’s Top Prospect - St. Louis currently boasts 63 college commitments, 11 to Division I institutions, that have been reported to PBR. CLICK HERE for last year’s roster.

Looking at this year’s roster, the state of Illinois will be well represented. A few high-interest left-handed hitters to keep an eye on will be OF Kyle Hetherington (Crystal Lake South), OF/INF Parker Mathieson (Normal U-High), MIF Bobby Wisz (Lemont) and OF Bennett Eltoft (St. Francis), among others. RHP Diego Koval was the ace for St. Rita this spring and LHP Cameron Edmonson (Rochester) has been emerging as one of the best available left-handers in the class. 3B Ethan Burgh (Prospect) is one of the highest ranked Illinois prospects who will be in attendance.

Cameron Edmonson (4.27.18)

Missouri will be responsible for over half of the roster. Two catchers that played for the Missouri’s Future Games Team last August,  Cole Christman (Fort Zumwalt West) and Brady Prewitt (Raytown South) will be in attendance. Another catcher to keep an eye on is John Stallcup. Stallcup is an above-average receiver and can handle the bat. Nico Hagen is coming off the Missouri Class 5A State Championship with Vianney and making this his first PBR event.

RHP Zachary Robinson (Fort Zumwalt South) has been in the upper 80’s this spring off the mound. LHP/1B Mark Shallenberger (St. Louis Priory) and Brady Voss (Wentzville Liberty), were two other Missouri Future Gamers from last summer. Shallenberger has legitimate two way potential and Voss is a long and lean outfielder who has been adding strength to his frame.

Zachary Robinson (3.30.18)

A couple of others to keep an eye on are 2B Max Elmer (Glendale), OF Jake Grauberger (Lees Summit West) and RHP Garrett Juergens (Sullivan).

There are plenty of other players not mentioned who are poised to break out at the event.
