Top Prospect - St. Louis: Statistical Analysis

The St. Louis Top Prospects Games took place on Tuesday, June 6th at SIU – Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Illinois. The event had over 50 prospects take place in a pro style workout and games in front of the PBR Scouting Staff. Today we start event analysis with stats story. A number of players have their names littered throughout the top performers. Nick Boone (O'Fallon) and Zeb Roos (Lindbergh) showed off some serious speed to go along with one of the top arms from the outfield. Colten Weber (Jackson) and Matthew Helwig (Lincoln-Way Central) came away as the top two-way arms at the event, posting top numbers on the mound as well as at their respective positions.

Top home to first times

Seven players ran sub 4.50 home to first times. Nick Boone and Bryce Griebler (Southeast) posted the fastest times by a wide margin, with a speedy 4.19 and 4.26 respectively.

Top fastball velocity

A total of ten players reached 85 mph or higher off the mound. Matt Kesel (Francis Howell Central) led the way with an 89 mph fastball from the right-side. The top left-handed arms at the event belonged to Blake Struble (Carrollton) and Cody Hacker (Holt), both topping out at 86 mph.

15 players recorded exit velocities of 90 mph or greater. The only player to record a triple digit exit velocity was Donovan Nanfeldt (Andrew), at 102 mph. Jacob Marti (Normal West) proved he could swing with power from both sides of the plate, reaching 99 mph from the right side and 91 from the left.

Colten Weber and Bryce Moskiewicz (Lyons Township) tied for the top velocity from behind the dish at 82 mph. Weber also featured a power arm on the mound, posting the second fastest fastball on the day.
