Underclass Invitational: Pitcher Analysis

Illinois Scouting Staff

It’s almost unfair to limit the rankings of the pitchers at Underclass Invitational to a list of 10 names for the 2020 class and five for 2021's. The event was stacked with quality, next-level arms throughout. There’s no doubt that more than just the top-10 ranked below will factor into the upcoming 2020 overall rankings update as well.

Two underclassmen recorded fastball velocities at 90 mph or above: Ben Wiegman (Carmel Catholic, 2020; Louisville) and Ben Hernandez (De La Salle, 2020; Illinois-Chicago). Both showed more than just velocity, too.

Freshman Vytas Valincius (St. Laurence) also reiterated why he’s becoming one of the best 2021 prospects across the Midwest. His performance on the mound at the invite-only event stood out and he easily recorded the highest fastball velocity among his freshmen peers.

Continue reading on to see how boldly this group of arms revealed their talents.
