The Prep Baseball Report Underclass Invitational at The MAX in McCook, IL will take place on Sunday, January 15, 2017. The invite only event is geared towards the best 2019 and 2020 graduates in Illinois.
Spots are limited, but there is still time to request an invite for this Sunday’s event. CLICK HERE to request an invite for the Underclass Invitational.
A staggering 18 players from last year’s event have already committed to Division I programs. 15 players from last year’s event were ultimately selected to participate in this past summer’s PBR Future Games.
As of now, this year’s roster looks like it will rival the talent of last year. 28 ranked players in the 2019 class are signed up for the event. Below are some notable attendees in the 2019 class.
RHP Grant Leader (Lyons Township) is currently ranked No. 6 in the 2019 class and reportedly sat in the upper 80’s at a few events this fall. Leader was one of the lone 2019 prospects at the Future Games this summer.
Grant Leader (PBR Future Games 8.4.16)
SS Jalen Greer (St. Rita) showed well multiple times throughout the fall and was one of the biggest risers in the last 2019 rankings update. Now ranked No. 8 in the class, Greer has a high ceiling and advanced defensive actions.
Bryce Barnett (Providence Catholic) is another right-handed arm to keep an eye on this Sunday. Barnett is making the Underclass Invitational his first PBR event but he has been on the radar for a long time. This fall we saw Barnett touch 87 mph and spin an 80 mph slider with late bite. Barnett is a top 15 prospect in the class.
OF Danny Doligale (Brother Rice), INF/OF Benji Brokemond (Walter Payton), C Tyler Snep (Lake Zurich) and INF Josh Gibson (O'Fallon) are all highly ranked 2019 position players who will be in attendance.
Not to be forgotten, there are some talented 2020’s who will also be in attendance this weekend. SS Jacob Mote is a physically advanced freshman with impressive tools. At the Underclass Showcase the 6-foot-2, 175-pound infielder, was clocked at 85 mph across the infield and registered a 90 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Some other notable 2020’s are C Shane McGaha (Stevenson), OF Tom Jurack (Hinsdale Central), INF Tre Hondras (Homewood-Flossmoor), RHP/OF Connor Gill (Oswego East) and RHP Danny Doheny (Lyons Township).
The Underclass Invitational never disappoints in prospects establishing and emerging as the better players in their respective classes and this year should be no different.
