Underclass Showcase: Statistical Analysis

Phil Kerber
Associate Scout

The Underclass Showcase took place on Sunday, October 22 at the MAX in McCook, IL. This event featured over 100 prospects from the 2020 and 2021 Classes, who participated in a pro-style workout in front of the PBR Illinois Scouting Staff. Yesterday, we started the event anaylsis with a Quick Hits story. Today, we continue the event anaylsis with a look at the top statistical performers.

From a numbers stand point, there was a collection of prospects who really stood-out. Jacob Mote (Normal University, 2020) continued to show why he is one of the top 2020s in the state of Illinois, currently ranked No. 12. Similarly, Tre Hondras (Homewood-Flossmoor, 2020) had a comparable day to Mote, as the two battled it out for top statistical performer in multiple events.

One cannot mention Mote and Hondras in the same sentence without having to give notice to Tom Jurack (Hinsdale Central, 2020) and the day he had at the plate and at multiple positions in the field. On the mound, it was Cooper Herold (Minooka, 2020) who keeps improving his stock, running his fastball up to 85 mph.
