Underclass Trials: Pitcher Analysis

The Underclass Trials kicks off our summer season and is one of our favorite events because it always brings the most unseen talent to the forefront. Today we roll-out the top pitchers from the event. There were a total of 56 pitchers at the event. We ranked the Top 2018 and 2019 prospects separately.

Lets take a look at the top guys at Underclass Trials.

Top Pitching Prospects

2018’s

1. Ari Gordon, RHP, Stevenson, 2018
6-foot-3, 200-pound right-handed pitcher. On the mound works from a ¾ arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Drop and drive delivery with some effort. Good explosion in the lower half. Low elbow, occasionally gets underneath pitches. Works uphill with his fastball that is straight at 84-87 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 64-67 mph. Changeup sat72-75 mph. Live arm with erratic command.

2. Brady Miller, RHP, Plainfield North, 2018
6-foot-3, 180-pound right-handed pitcher. On the mound works from a high 3.4 arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with an open toed landing. Smooth rhythm with glove pat at balance point. Fastball showed hard, running action at 81-82 topping out at 83 mph. Curveball showed 11-5 shape with sharp breaking action at 68-70 mph. Maintained arm speed on changeup that showed running and fading action at 71-73 mph for strikes.

3. Ben Cornelius, LHP, Lake Zurich, 2018
6-foot, 185-pound left-handed pitcher. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a quick arm action and wrap on the backside. Tall and fall, online delivery with a square landing. Regular effort with some rhythm. Fastball showed running action at 79-82 mph for strikes. Curveball has 1-7 shape with sharp breaking action at 65-68 mph for strikes. Changeup is straight at 74-76 mph.

4. Jaylen Patterson, OF/RHP, Kenwood Academy, 2018
Lanky athletic two-way prospect, 6-foot-1, 177-pounds. Right-handed hitter, athletic setup, open stance, smooth loading action, leg-lift stride. Loose, whippy hands, above average bat speed. Pull side contact, loose barrel, 78 mph exit velocity from the tee. Outfield arm carried, loose and long arm action, 82 mph from the outfield. Actions played through athletically, showed good feet. 7.13 runner in the 60. On the mound arm showed some life, athletic arm, high ¾ slot, loose action. Fastball showed some life, control at the top half, 80-82 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, flashed sharp action, 66-70 mph. Changeup worked at 73-76 mph.

5. Will McManaman, LHP, St. Ignatius, 2018
6-foot-3, 180-pound left-handed pitcher. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with easy effort. Athletic finish with smooth rhythm and good balance throughout delivery. Fastball has heavy running action at 80-81 mph for strikes. Curveball has 1-7 shape at 61-64 mph. Changeup has fading action at 69-72 mph.

5. Vincent Massaglia, SS/RHP, Morton, 2018
5-foot-10, 170-pound two-way player, average athletic frame. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, smooth loading action, leg kick trigger. Aggressive swing, attacks the baseball, showed bat speed with hard pull side contact. 85 mph exit velocity from the tee. 7.36 runner in the 60. Showed positive defensive actions on the infield, hands played with the ability to cushion the baseball, athletic defender, plays fluidly for his age. Arm action is loose and quick, some effort, high ¾ slot, flashed carry, 83 mph across the diamond. On the mound arm worked similarly, regular effort, direction and closed toe landing. Fastball sat 80-82 mph, touched 83 mph. Curveball had well above average 12/6 action for his age, 63-66 mph. Knuckleball had occasional flutter, 64-68 mph.

2019’s

1. Kyle Wisch, RHP/INF, Hinsdale Central, 2019
Currently ranked No. 5 in the 2019 class. 6-foot-3, 190-pound, physically advanced, strong, two-way prospect. Right-handed pitcher with big upside on the mound. Showed feel for a four pitch mix; slider and curveball have two distinct shapes and velocities. Tall and fall, controlled, repeatable delivery; lands closed and falls off towards first base at times. Arm works quick and loose out of a high ¾ window. Fastball, thrown for strikes, flashed life and boaring action when located down in the zone, sat 82-83 mph. Curveball, feel, works mostly 12/6, good spin and depth; 66-68 mph. Slider, tight, sharp 10/4 action, 69-71 mph. Changeup, maintains arm speed, arm-side-run and clocked at 72-73 mph. Offensively, hits from the right side. Flashed bat speed, lift in swing, pull approach; 80 mph exit velocity. Balanced setup, slight load and short stride. Defensively, profiles as a third baseman. Steady hands and a clean transfer on the infield. Long, loose arm action from a high ¾ slot, throws were accurate across the diamond and clocked at 79 mph. Also, ran an 8.06 60. High level 2019 prospect on the mound.

2. Michael Walsh, RHP, Lyons Township, 2019
6-foot, 140-pound right-handed pitcher with a thin, lanky frame. Works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with an athletic finish. Slow paced delivery, long pause before coming to the plate. Fastball was firm at 80 topping out at 83 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 65-68 mph. Slider has 10-4 shape with tight rotation and hard, late breaking action at 64-68 mph. Maintained arm speed on changeup with running action at 70-73 mph. Projects well.

3. Coby Moe, RHP/INF, Grayslake Central, 2019
6-foot-3, 160-pound lanky, two-way prospect. Offensively, right handed hitter, balanced setup, short, leg kick trigger, and maintains balance through the hitting zone. Present bat speed, short, level path, extension after contact, gap-to-gap approach, fluid rhythm, looseness in swing, consistent hard contact; exit velocity recorded at 83 mph. Defensively, athletic actions, quick and clean exchanges. Long arm action from a high ¾ slot, quick release; throws registered at 69 mph across the diamond. Ran an 8.18 laser timed 60. On the mound, Moe shows a high ceiling. Tall and fall delivery, maintains rhythm and tempo throughout, and stays in line with the target. High ¾ slot, quick, short arm. Fastball sat at 77-79, topping at 82 mph. Curveball, 11/5 break, sat 64-67 mph. Changeup ranged between 66-69 mph.

4. Kendal Ewell, OF/RHP, Marist, 2019
6-foot-1, 175-pound two-way player, lean lanky frame with high upside. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, smooth loading action, leg lift stride, solid easy balance. Above average bat speed, solid approach, efficient bat path, line drive gap to gap type, loose hands, projectable bat. 84 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively moved athletically with confidence in the outfield, plays through the baseball, light feet and soft hands. Easy form runner, 7.70 in the 60. Arm played at 82 mph from the outfield, loose over the top slot, showed carry. On the mound delivery is repeatable and easy, showed athleticism and balance. Arm action is clean, high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 77-80 mph, topped at 81 mph. Slider has loose action, ranged 65-72 mph. Changeup played at 66-67 mph.

5. Justin Divelbiss, RHP/INF, Plainfield Central, 2019
5-foot-10, 135-pound, lean, athletically built two-way prospect. On the mound, the right-hander features a clean, loose and quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery, smooth rhythm, regular effort, stays in-line, lands square and finishes athletically. Fastball works straight, thrown for strikes and clocked at 77-78 mph, touching 79.  Curveball, 11/5 shape, some depth, 64-66 mph. Changeup, down at times, 64-66 mph. Knuckleball ranged between 58-60 mph. Offensively, hits from the right side. Flashed bat speed, gap-to-gap approach and fluid rhythm throughout. Open setup, smooth load, long stride and maintains balance through contact. 78 mph exit velocity. Defensively, flashed range to his backhand side. Fields out front with a clean exchange at times. Low ¾ slot and clocked at 73 mph. 7.52 runner in the 60, laser-timed.

Logan Anderson, 3B/C/RHP, Providence Catholic, 2018
6-foot, 205-pound right-handed utility player with a strong frame. At the plate hits from a balanced setup. Short arm bar load with a short stride and good balance. Pull power hitter with fluid rhythm and a fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 85 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 8.14. Defensively has a loose arm action from an over the top slot. Throws showed carry across the infield at 77 mph. Solid footwork with soft hands. Behind the plate has a short arm action. Accurate throws with carry. Popped 2.26-2.37 and threw 74 mph from the crouch. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery with regular effort. Works in line with home plate. Fastball was straight at 76-77 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape with loose rotation at 59-62 mph. Maintained fastball arm speed on changeup that showed cutting action at 66-69 mph.

Michael Bohlen, RHP, Marian Catholic, 2019
6-foot-4, 180-pound right-handed pitcher with a lanky frame. Works from a high 3.4 arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with a closed toe landing. Some rhythm with an athletic finish. Fastball has slight running action at 76-77 mph for strikes down in the zone. Curveball has 12-6 shape with some depth, slows arm at 61-64 mph. Changeup showed sinking and fading action at 64-65 mph.

Hayden Brotz, 1B/RHP, Stevenson, 2019
6-foot-1, 205-pound, strong, athletic build, two-way prospect. Offensively, right handed hitter, excellent balance through the zone, easy juice, strong swing; exit velocity clocked at 89 mph. Present bat speed, advanced gap-to-gap approach, uphill path and fluid rhythm. Balanced setup and short stride. Defensively, athletic fielding position, clean exchanges. High ¾ slot, long arm action; clocked at 72 mph across the diamond. Also, ran an 8.09 laser timed 60. On the mound, showcased the same high ¾ slot as in the field. Tall and fall delivery, long, quick arm action. Fastball, clocked at 76-77, topped 78 mph. Changeup, down in the zone, sat 66-68 mph. Knuckleball, downward tumble, sat 66-68 mph.

Jaren Brucher, RHP, Geneseo, 2019
5-foot-10, 145-pound right-handed pitcher. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a long, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery with some effort. Uptempo delivery working in line with home plate. Fastball sat 77-80 topping out at 81 mph. Maintains arm speed on changeup with downer action at 67-70 mph. Also threw a knuckleball at 64-67 mph.

Joe Bullard, LHP, New Trier, 2018
Lanky, athletic frame at 6-foot, 140-pound left-handed pitcher. On the mound works from a high 3.4 arm angle with a quick, loose arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with smooth rhythm. Good balance though out delivery. Fastball sat 75-78 mph. Curveball has 1-7 shape with sharp action at 60-63 mph for strikes. Maintains arm speed on changeup with fading action at 64-68 mph for strikes. Projects well on the mound.

Jake Busse, LHP/INF, Woodstock North, 2018
6-foot-1, 175-pound, lanky, two-way prospect. On the mound, the left-hander flashed a short, loose arm action out of a high ¾ slot. Delivery works with some rhythm and repeatability. Fastball, clocked at 74-76 mph. Curveball, sweeping action, sat 65-68 mph. Changeup, gets underneath at times, straight action, 69-71 mph. Offensively, right-handed hitter, balanced, slightly open setup, no load and average stride. Uphill bat path and pull-side tendencies; 74 mph exit velocity. Defensively, reliable hands on the infield. Short arm action, high ¾ slot, and clocked at 71 mph across the diamond. Also, ran a 7.26 laser-timed 60.

Ben Chapman, C/RHP, Rochester, 2018
6-foot, 180-pound right-handed hitting C/RHP with a strong frame. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a short leg lift stride and good balance. Gap to gap hitter with a short swing path and a fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.79. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Throws showed carry with a long exchange. Popped 2.26-2.36 and threw 76 mph from the crouch. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short, loose, quick arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with smooth rhythm and an upright finish. Showed feel for three pitches with control of all three. Fastball has downhill tilt at 80-81 topping out at 83 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape with tight rotation and late breaking action at 68-70 mph. Maintained arm speed on changeup with slight running action at 69-71 mph.

Jake Devine, RHP/1B, Mundelein, 2019
6-foot, 165 pound, two-way prospect. Offensively, right handed hitter, with a long path through the zone. Open setup, short stride; exit velocity clocked at 70. Defensively, plays through the baseball. Long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot; 65 mph across the infield. 8.61 runner in the laser-timed 60. On the mound, right handed pitcher, tall and fall delivery, flashed rhythm, stays in line. Long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball, mostly straight, sat 73-74 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, 65-68 mph. Changeup, sat 68-71 mph.

Colin Diehm, LHP, Carroll (IN), 2020
6-foot-4, 190-pound left-handed pitcher with an XL frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with a square landing. Fastball was firm at 77-79 mph. Curveball has 2-8 shape with tight rotation and late action at 58-61 mph. Maintained fastball arm speed on changeup at 67-70 mph.

Dominic DiLello, OF/RHP, Sacred Heart Griffin, 2018
5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed two-way player, strong build. In the outfield showed above average arm strength for his age, 82 mph from a crowhop. Arm action plays long and over the top. Showed an ability to play through the baseball with a crow hop, clean exchange with length, projects at a corner outfield spot. 7.61 runner in the 60. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, short stride, average balance. High back elbow, occasional front foot hitter, path is steep to the baseball. 81 mph exit velocity from the tee. On the mound delivery worked on line, squared landing with tempo. Arm action is long and over the top. Fastball showed some tilt, sat 73-75 mph, topped at 78 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, thrown near fastball arm speed and showed feel at 59-63 mph. Changeup sat 65-67 mph.

Jacob Duncan, RHP/INF, Cary-Grove, 2019
5-foot-11, 180-pound, strong bodied, two-way prospect. Offensively, right-handed hitter, narrow, slightly open stance, short, double toe tap stride. Uphill bat path and flashed pop; recorded an 83 mph exit velocity off of a tee. Defensively, fluid footwork, quick exchanges, athletic fielding position. High 3/4, long arm action, accurate throws with carry across the diamond, flashed arm strength; registered throws at 77 mph in the infield. Also, ran a 7.53 laser timed 60. On the mound, high ¾ slot, quick arm, long, loose arm action, some effort. Tall and fall delivery, lands closed. Fastball, sat 78-79, topped 82 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, pounded the bottom of the zone, ranged 67-71 mph. Changeup, near fastball arm speed, arm side run, ranged 68-70 mph. 2019 arm to follow.

Trevor Fulmer, RHP/INF, Addison, 2018
6-foot-2, 220-pound, strong, extra-large, two-way prospect. On the mound, tall and fall delivery, some rhythm, regular effort and finishes towards first base. Arm works long and out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball, flashed heaviness when down in the zone and clocked at 78-81 mph. Curveball, thrown for strikes, 12/6 shape, some depth, 65-69 mph. Changeup, straight action, 72-73 mph. Offensively, flashed pull power and bat speed; 84 mph exit velocity. Balanced setup, short stride and uphill bat path. Defensively, moves around the bag fluidly, short arm action, from an over-the-top slot. Throws clocked at 73 mph across the diamond. 7.74 runner in the 60.

Brennan Geers, OF/LHP, Providence Catholic, 2019
6-foot-1, 185-pound two-way player, highly projectable frame, lean athletic shape, 6-foot-1, 185-pounds. In the outfield arm played from a high ¾ slot at 73 mph. 7.90 runner in the 60. Worked uphill and through the baseball defensively, average footwork. Left-handed bat, balanced stance, loads hands back, short stride. Path is long on uphill plane, lifts pull side contact, some bat strength. 86 mph exit velocity from the tee. On the mound delivery is tall and online, upright finish, slight recoil. High ¾ slot, short loose arm action. Fastball sat 74-75 mph. Curveball played with 2/8 type action, 61-63 mph. Changeup has arm side run, 64-69 mph.

Ryan Gorkis, RHP, Waubonsie Valley, 2018
6-foot-3, 175-pound right-handed pitcher. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short, stiff arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with regular effort and a square landing. Fastball has tilt at 72-75 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape with downer action and depth at 57-58 mph. Changeup is straight at 66-67 mph for strikes.

Corey Graham, OF/INF/RHP, Crete Monee, 2018
6-foot, 155-pound multi-positional player, average athletic shape. Right-handed hitter, tall setup with balanced feet, arm bar load, short stride. Athletic hands, loose swing. 80 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively worked at multiple positions, arm played with length and loose, 82 mph from the outfield, 71 mph across the diamond. Above average runner for his age, 7.04 in the 60. Showed an ability to play through the baseball athletically and in stride. On the mound, fastball sat 68-72 mph. Curveball played on 11/5 plane, 55-63 mph. Changeup flashed sink, slows arm at times, ranged 54-62 mph.

Ryan Guenther, 1B/RHP, Washington Community, 2019
6-foot, 168-pound, lean, two-way prospect. Offensively, right handed hitter, tall, open set up, leg-kick timing mechanism. Level bat path, pull side approach, some strength in swing; exit velocity recorded at 77 mph. Defensively, long arm action with effort, accurate throws across the diamond; clocked at 71 mph in the infield. Also, ran an 8.25 laser timed 60. On the mound, high ¾ slot, short arm action. Drop and drive delivery, stays in line with target. Fastball, sat 73-74 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, ranged between 60-63 mph. Changeup, arm side run, clocked at 65-67 mph.

Jacob Hilty, RHP, Providence Catholic, 2018
5-foot-10, 145-pound right-handed pitcher with a wiry frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a quick, loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with smooth rhythm and an athletic finish. Easy effort. Fastball was straight at 77-78 mph for strikes. Curveball showed 11-5 and 12-6 shape with downer action at 66-67 mph. Showed feel for his changeup with fading action at 71-73 mph for strikes.

Kyle Jennings, RHP, Marist, 2019
6-foot-3, 175-pound right-handed pitcher with a lanky frame. On the mound works form a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with a square landing. Athletic finish with some rhythm. Fastball showed slight running action at 75-77 topping out at 78 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape with rolling action at 58-62 mph. Changeup showed slight fading action at 66-68 mph.

Brendan Johnson, RHP/OF, Frankfort Community, 2019
6-foot-1, 190-pounds, solid build with strength for his age. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride, average balance. Pull side contact, path casts, 77 mph exit velocity from the tee. 7.83 runner in the 60. Tall and fall delivery on the mound, maintains level shoulders, slightly closed landing. Arm action is slightly shorter, over the top slot. Fastball sat 76-78 mph, topped at 79 mph. Curveball has slurve type action, 11/5 plane, 61-65 mph. Slider played at 63-66 mph, similar actions to curveball. Changeup ranged 64-71 mph.

Mason Kasprisin, RHP/INF, Joliet West, 2019
5-foot-11, 155-pound, athletically framed, lanky, two-way prospect. Offensively, right handed hitter, balanced stance, back-side load, short stride, leg-lift timing trigger, balance through contact. Present bat speed, looseness, pull-side, line-drive approach; exit velocity recorded at 85 mph off of a tee. Defensively, clean exchanges on throws across the diamond. ¾ arm slot, long arm action; clocked at 73 mph across the diamond. Also, ran a 7.82 laser timed 60. On the mound, fastball sat 75-77, topped at 78 mph. Curveball, 12/6 shape, ranged between 63 -66 mph. Changeup, clocked between 65-69 mph.

Austin Lane, INF/RHP, Leroy, 2018
5-foot-9, 185-pound, strong, two-way prospect. On the mound, drop and drive delivery, coiled load and some effort throughout. Arm works loose and out of a high ¾ window. Flashed some arm strength for his age; fastball, mainly straight, thrown for strikes and clocked at 82-85 mph. Curveball, feel and depth, 11/5 shape and clocked at 69-71 mph. Changeup, mostly straight, 76-78 mph. Offensively, balanced, open setup position, long stride and flashed quick hands at times; 84 mph exit velocity. Defensively, short arm action out of a ¾ slot on the infield. Throws clocked at 78 mph across the diamond. Also, ran a 7.56 laser-timed 60.

Jac Lindish, INF/RHP, Plainfield Central, 2019
5-foot-8, 165 pound, two-way prospect. Ran a 7.36 laser-timed 60. Offensively, right handed hitter with a pull approach. Balanced setup, short toe-tap stride and a long, uphill path; exit velocity clocked at 79 mph. Defensively, flashed quick feet, ranged well to his left and right on the infield. Short arm action from a high ¾ to ¾ arm slot. On the mound, drop and dive, up-tempo delivery, slightly closed landing. Long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Fastball, flashed run, sat 65-66 mph. Curveball, 59-61 mph. Changeup, slight arm side run, 61-62 mph.

Eric Lundell, RHP/INF, Marmion, 2019
6-foot, 155-pound lanky, two-way prospect. Offensively, right handed hitter, slightly open, balanced stance, smooth back side load, short, toe tap stride. Long bat path, looseness in swing, gap-to-gap approach, fluid rhythm; exit velocity clocked at 77 mph. Defensively, low ¾ slot, loose arm action; clocked at 69 mph across the diamond. Also, ran a 7.73 laser timed 60. On the mound, high ¾ slot, quick arm speed, long and loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery, lands slightly closed. Fastball, some life, ranged between 77-79 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, fastball arm speed, clocked between 67-69 mph. Changeup, near fastball arm speed, slight cut, sat 68-71 mph. Slider, ranged between 68-70 mph.

Chase Maifield, INF/LHP, Grant, 2018
6-foot-4, 230-pound, extra-large, hulking two-way prospect. Offensively, left-handed hitter with power potential. Fluid rhythm, gap-to-gap approach and flashed bat speed. Looseness in swing and level path through the hitting zone; 80 mph exit velocity. Open setup, smooth load, stride gets back to even and maintains balance through contact. Defensively, short arm action, ¾ slot, 68 mph across the diamond. On the mound, left-handed pitcher, throws three pitches for a strike. Tall and fall delivery, smooth rhythm, stays in line, lands square with regular effort throughout.  Short arm action from an over-the-top slot. Fastball, thrown for strikes, tilt, downhill, heavy action, clocked at 74-77 mph, touched 78. Curveball, flashed feel at times, 12/6 shape and ranged between 63-66 mph. Changeup, stays on top, thrown for strikes, down in the zone, straight action, sat 69-74 mph.

Luke Markunas, INF/RHP, Washington Community, 2019
6-foot-3, 200-pound, big bodied, two-way prospect. Offensively, right handed hitter, balanced setup, short stride. Long, uphill bat path, pull side approach; exit velocity clocked at 84 mph. Defensively, high ¾ slot, long arm action; registered throws at 77 mph across the diamond. Also, ran an 8.68 laser timed 60. On the mound, ¾ slot, quick, long arm. Works fast, tall and fall delivery, stays in line, toe lands closed. Fastball, clocked at 78-79. Topped 80 mph. Curveball, 12/6 shape, ranged between 61-65 mph. Changeup, similar fastball arm speed, clocked at 65-68 mph.

Quinn McQuade, LHP/OF, Lakes, 2018
6-foot-1, 170-pound left-handed throwing two-way player. On the mound works from a high ¾ slot, showed some arm speed, regular effort. Fastball has arm side run, showed control of the zone, sat 71-72 mph, touched 75 mph. Curveball has 1/7 shape, above average feel for his age, 59-62 mph. Changeup sinks and showed ability to keep down, ranged 64-68 mph. Right-handed hitter, tall setup, short stride, little effort, static pre-pitch. Flashed bat strength, 79 mph exit velocity from the tee, uphill path. Defensively made clean actions in the outfield, average hands. 7.40 runner in the 60.

Curveball has 12/6 shape, 60-61 mph, flashed tight spin. Changeup is 66-68 mph. In the outfield arm plays short from a high ¾ slot, 69 mph from the outfield. Plays through the baseball, lacked actions, direction played to glove side. 7.41 runner in the 60. Right-handed hitter, tall setup, leg kick stride, lacked balance. Path showed length, average bat speed, 72 mph exit velocity from the tee.

Matt Piento, OF/LHP, Lyons Township, 2018
6-foot, 160-pound left-handed two-way player, lanky frame with some projectability, best on the mound. On the mound arm action is short with some quickness, high ¾ slot. Tall and fall approach, regular effort, open toe landing, works slightly across body. Fastball showed arm side run and sinking action, 77-78 mph, topped at 79 mph. Curveball flashed bite on 12/6 plane, showed feel for the pitch, 68-70 mph. Changeup had well above average fading action, thrown with comparable arm speed, feel for the zone, 72-74 mph. Left-handed hitter, slightly open stance, short stride, average balance. Showed ability to work the middle of the field, short path with rigid finish. 73 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed average actions, occasionally worked uphill through the baseball, short high ¾ arm action, 76 from the outfield. 7.47 runner in the 60.

Billy Pierce, RHP, Plainfield East, 2018
6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed pitcher with a strong, durable frame. Works from an over the top arm angle with a loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with regular effort. Square landing with some rhythm. Works downhill with heavy action on his fastball at 80-83 mph for strikes. Curveball has 12-6 shape with depth at 66-68 mph. Changeup has fading action at 69-70 mph.

Billy Pindozzo, 1B/LHP, De La Salle, 2019
6-foot, 140-pound, lanky, two-way prospect. Offensively, right handed hitter, balanced setup, short, toe-tap timing mechanism, uphill bat path; recorded a 65 mph exit velocity off of a tee. Defensively, recorded throws across the diamond at 54 mph. Also, ran an 8.32 laser timed 60. On the mound, ¾ slot, tall balance point. Tall and fall delivery, slight hitch, lands open. Fastball, clocked at 54-56 mph, topped at 58 mph. Curveball, ranged between 40-46 mph. Changeup, sat between 46-50 mph.

Ryan Piontek, INF/RHP, St. Charles North, 2018
5-foot-10, 185-pound, durable, two-way prospect. Offensively, aggressive swing, flashed bat speed and strength through contact; 85 mph exit velocity. Uphill bat path and pull approach. Starts from a balanced setup, short stride and average balanced. Defensively, long arm action from a high ¾ slot, clocked at 71 mph across the diamond. 7.99 runner in the 60. On the mound, loose arm, regular effort and a high ¾ slot. Fastball, thrown for strikes, tendency to get underneath and flatten out; clocked at 69-71 mph. Curveball worked 11/5 shape and clocked at 53-57 mph. Slider, more sweeping action, 57-60 mph. Changeup clocked at 61-62 mph.

Cole Rainforth, RHP/1B, Marmion, 2019
6-foot-2, 168-pound, lanky, two-way prospect. Offensively, left handed hitter, balanced setup, back side load, toe-tap timing trigger, short stride. Pull-side approach, high finish; exit velocity clocked at 80 mph. Defensively, high ¾ arm slot, accurate throws across the diamond clocked at 72 mph. Also, ran a 7.75 laser timed 60. On the mound, tall and fall delivery, high ¾ slot, short arm action. Fastball, sat 73-75 mph, topped 76. Slider, ranged between 62-68 mph. Knuckleball, clocked between 53-58 mph.

Trey Ricko, RHP/INF, Plainfield South, 2018
6-foot, 170-pound, well-proportioned, two-way prospect. On the mound, tall and fall delivery with rhythm and some effort. Stays on-line and lands square. Arm works long, loose and quick out of a high ¾ window. Fastball thrown for strikes, arm-side-run and clocked at 82-85 mph. Curveball works 11/5, some sweeping action and ranged between 65-70 mph. Changeup, thrown with near fastball arm speed and clocked anywhere from 71-77 mph. Offensively, hits from the right side. Open, balanced setup, stride gets back to square and average balance through contact. Long path and pull approach; 83 mph exit velocity. Defensively, flashed a quick transfer at times. Arm slot varied between high ¾ and ¾ on the infield, clocked at 74 mph. 7.99 runner in the 60, laser-timed.

Anthony Ruffalo, RHP/OF, Munster (IN), 2018
5-foot-10, 140-pound two-way player, thin build. Tall and fall delivery, regular effort, works from a high ¾ slot with a full arm action, slight cupping action at the bottom of his draw. Fastball has slight sinking action, mixed two and four seamers, sat 71-74 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 63-64 mph. Changeup thrown near fastball arm speed, straight change, 64-68 mph. Slider showed better potential, 10/4 action, 66-67 mph. Defensively arm worked long from a high ¾ slot, 73 mph from the outfield. 8.36 runner in the 60. Right-handed hitter, open stance, average balance, showed some looseness in his hands. Long path, slight pull side tendencies, 81 mph exit velocity from the tee.

Anthony Scanlon, RHP, Mount Carmel, 2018
5-foot-11, 145-pound right-handed pitcher. Works from a ¾ arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a short stride. Falls to first base side after release with an upright finish. Fastball sat 81-83 mph with hard running action at times. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 66-70 mph, occasionally backs up. Changeup showed sinking action at 71-73 mph.

Brandon Schulte, RHP/OF, Washington Community, 2019
5-foot-10, 165-pound two-way player. Right-handed bat, open setup, strides back to square. Some effort, flashed bat speed, occasional hard contact. 79 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively played through the baseball above average outfield actions. Arm played with occasional carry, 79 mph from a crowhop, loose high ¾ action, played with accuracy. 7.32 runner in the 60. Drop and drive style delivery, works down the mound, some effort. Arm action is long, high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 76-78 mph, topped at 79 mph. Slider played at 69-72 mph, limited action. Curveball worked at 62-64 mph, 11/5 plane. Changeup sat 68-71 mph.

Jackson Schutzenhofer, OF/LHP, Schaumburg Christian, 2018
5-foot-8, 132-pound two-way player. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, slightly crouched, short stride, lacked balance. Path has length, 69 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm action is long, high ¾ slot, with effort, 67 mph from the outfield. 7.73 runner in the 60. On the mound uses a tall and fall delivery with some effort, over the top slot, short arm action. Fastball had light action, 63-66 mph, touched 67 mph. Overhand curveball thrown at 54-55 mph, loose action. Straight changeup is 59-61 mph. 

Nick Sheren, RHP/SS, Antioch, 2018
5-foot-8, 145-pound two-way prospect. On the mound, up-tempo, drop and drive delivery. Lands square, stays on-line with some effort throughout. Works out of a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball flashed slight arm-side-run and sat 75-77 mph. Curveball, mainly 11/5 shape, tight spin, thrown for strikes and ranged between 62-65 mph. Changeup, clocked at 68-71 mph. Offensively, hits from the right side of the plate. Balanced setup, loads hands pre-pitch and short stride. Average bat speed and uphill path through the zone; 70 mph exit velocity. Defensively, feet worked short and quick; flashed reliable hands. Throws from a low ¾ slot, flashed carry at times and clocked at 76 mph across the infield. 7.81 runner in the 60, laser-timed.

John Slager, RHP, Lincoln-Way East, 2018
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed pitcher. Works between a high ¾ and over the top arm angle. Long, stiff arm action with regular effort. Drop and drive delivery with a square landing. Short leg lift from the stretch, arm cant always catch up. Fastball sat 75-78 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 63-67 mph. Showed feel for his changeup that flashed sinking action at 71-72 mph for strikes.

Dylan Suca, RHP/INF, Joliet West, 2018
6-foot-2, 170-pound, athletically built two-way prospect. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, delivery works with some rhythm, stays on-line, square landing and athletic finish. Arm works clean and out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball, thrown for strikes, flashed run and sink, 71-76 mph. Changeup showed feel and action; arm-side-run and fade, 64-70 mph. Curveball, feel, 11/5 shape, 60-62 mph. Splitter, downer action, 68-69 mph. Offensively, hits from the right side. Path works uphill and short to the baseball. Wide setup, loads, heel-lift timing trigger and average balance through contact; 69 mph exit velocity. Defensively, short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Throws clocked at 71 mph across the diamond. Also, ran a 8.67 laser-timed 60.  

Nicholas Talarico, INF/RHP, Marmion, 2019
5-foot-9, 150-pound, right-handed hitting infielder. Offensively, gap-to-gap type hitter, long, uphill path and fluid rhythm throughout; 83 mph exit velocity. Balanced, open setup, smooth pre-pitch load, long stride and maintains balance through contact. Defensively, fluid footwork, soft hands and fields the ball athletically, out in front of his body on the infield. Long arm action, high ¾ slot and clocked at 75 mph across the diamond. 8.26 runner in the 60. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, throws three pitches for a strike. Long, quick arm action from an over-the-top slot. Tall and fall delivery, stays in line, some rhythm and effort throughout. Fastball clocked at 75-76 mph, touching 77. Curveball, thrown for strikes, worked 12/6, tight spin, depth and ranged between 59-63 mph. Changeup, feel, flashed plus action at times, arm-side-run, sink and clocked at 68-70 mph.

5-foot-9, 165-pound, strong, two-way prospect. Offensively, left-handed hitter, flashed bat speed, pull-pop and strength through contact. Balanced setup, short heel-lift trigger and lift in swing. Recorded a 72 mph exit velocity. Defensively, loose arm and accurate throws across the infield, clocked at 74 mph. Reliable hands, fields deep at times and a clean transfer. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, slow, deliberate, repeatable, tall and fall delivery. Arm works long, loose and out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 74-76 mph, touching 77. Curveball, 11/5 action and sat 60-62 mph. Changeup, tendency to slow arm speed, slight arm-side-run, ranged between 65-67 mph.

Evan Warrington, INF/RHP, Sacred Heart-Griffin, 2018
6-foot, 160-pound, lean, two-way prospect. On the mound, short quick arm action out of an over-the-top slot. Delivery works with some rhythm, regular effort and lands square. Fastball, thrown for strikes, straight action, sat 79-81 mph. Curveball flashed sharp, tight action, 12/6 shape, 65-67 mph. Changeup, flashed feel, thrown for strikes, straight, 73-75 mph. 6-foot-3, 170-pound two-way player, lean frame with length. Right-handed bat, balanced stance, short stride, average balance. Flat path showed feel for the barrel at times, 77 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm action played long from an over the top slot, 67 mph across the infield, 73 mph from the outfield. 8.14 runner in the 60. On the mound worked up-tempo, arm action is long and firm, high ¾ slot, pie action. Fastball is mostly straight, flashed occasional action, showed feel for the zone, 72-74 mph, topped at 77 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, some feel with short action, occasional deceleration. Changeup showed slight feel, near fastball arm speed, ability to control, 64-68 mph.

TJ Yakimisky, INF/RHP, Mundelein, 2019
5-foot-11, 135-pound, lean build, two-way prospect. Offensively, wide setup, backside load and average balance through contact. Pull approach and long path through the zone. 74 mph exit velocity. Defensively, worked through the baseball on the play to his backhand side. Flashed reliable hands, long arm action, accurate throws, clocked at 67 mph across the diamond. Also, ran an 8.05 60. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, drop and drive delivery, regular effort. Long, loose arm action out of a high ¾ window. Fastball sat 71-73 mph, touching 74. Curveball showed feel, thrown for strikes, 12/6, 11/5 shape, sat 59-61 mph. Changeup, missed up in the zone at times and ranged between 66-69 mph.
