Austin Chapman

Graduating Class: 2017

Position: RHP

School: Sacred-Heart Griffin

Height: 6-2

Weight: 210

The Outlook: Chapman is no stranger to PBR events and has been in the rankings since 2014 after he attended his first event. At the time he sat in the low 80's and had the same loose, quick arm action we have become accustomed to seeing. Since his sophomore year, he refined his repertoire and seen his velocity steadily climb. In the fall of 2015 we saw Chapman up to 88 mph in game. At the Capital City Open this fall his velocity was more in the low to mid 80’s but he showed a four-pitch mix, including a splitter with swing-and-miss potential. Chapman is one of the top right-handed pitchers still on the market.

Scouting Report: 10.16.16 - 6-foot-2, 210-pound right-handed pitcher, average build. Easy delivery, tall and fall approach, stays upright throughout. Arm action is short and loose, high ¾ slot. Fastball showed advanced action to arm side with run and sink, showed control, sat 82-84 mph, touched 86 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, feel for the zone, showed depth and spin, 66-70 mph. Changeup fades to arm side, thrown with arm speed, showed control, 76 mph. Splitter has downer action, swing and miss potential pitch, 71-74 mph, aggressive and showed confidence.
