Updated 2019 Overall Rankings

Much has changed over the course of four months since we last updated the Class of 2019 overall rankings, starting with the speed at which these rising sophomores are pledging their verbal commitments.

Good, bad or indifferent, recruiting is moving at a breakneck pace these days. How fast, exactly? In the updated and expanded Top 150 overall 2019 rankings, the first 12 players are already committed, and 24 of the top 30. In all, more than a third (56) of the top 150 have made their pledges.

Miami leads the way with six commitments in the Top 150, including the top two ranked prospects, 1B/RHP Triston Casas (American Heritage HS, FL) and C Jake Holland (Archbishop McCarthy HS, FL). Casas, a 6-foot-4, 238-pounder with double-plus left-handed juice, holds firm at the No. 1 spot, while the physically advanced 6-foot-2, 190-pound Holland jumps four spots after a consistently strong summer and early fall.

Vanderbilt has five commitments in the Top 150, headlined by No. 4 RHP/SS Chris McElvain (Summit HS, TN) and left-handed hitting OF Troy LaNeve (Pine-Richland HS, PA), who checks in at No. 6. Arkansas, too, has five 2019 commitments, followed by Louisville with four.

North Carolina recently locked up a pair of top 10 prospects when the Tar Heels received commitments from RHPs Joseph Charles (First Academy HS, FL) andBrennan Malone (Porter Ridge HS, NC). Louisiana State has three players in the top 30, led by OF Maurice Hampton (Memphis University HS, TN) at No. 5. Florida, Florida State, West Virginia and Virginia also have three commitments in the Top 150. LHP Hunter Barco (Bolles HS, FL), who jumps to No. 3 on the list, headlines Virginia’s 2019 class thus far.

It is important to note that the PBR overall rankings only include the states that we intimately know from our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff. The updated Top 150 Class of 2019 rankings is comprised of our current 31-state coverage area, which now includes North Carolina. Recently launched Oklahoma is currently not included in the overall rankings.

Some of the biggest risers in the updated and expanded 2019 rankings include: SSCade Doughty (Denham Springs HS, LA), SS/RHP Travis Odom (Blackman HS, TN), RHP Blake Adams (Harbor HS, AR), OF Bryce Matthews (Chaparral HS, CO), RHP/SS Michael Limoncelli (Horseheads HS, NY), RHP/IF Nick Maldonado (Seton Hall Prep HS, NJ), RHP Austin Thomas (Trinity Christian HS, FL), SS Andrew Wiegman (Carmel Catholic HS, IL), RHP Nathan Hardcastle (Red Lion Christian HS, DE), RHP Ryan Hawks (Warren East HS, KY) and C Eric Grintz (Downington West HS, PA), to name a few.
