Illinois’ Class of 2014 is shaping up to be one of the more promising crops of prospects we’ve seen in recent years. That fact has become more and more evident over the last few months. During the fall season we’ve seen some previously unknown players emerge as high-level prospects, while others made significant leaps.

After seeing about 100 more juniors at the Prep Baseball Report Class of 2014 Showcase on October 21, we’ve updated and expanded the player rankings.

While the top of the class remain intact, there are several new names that have surfaced. RHP Brad Bass (Lincoln-Way Central HS), LHP Jake Latz (Lemont HS), RHP Jake Godfrey (Providence Catholic HS), OF/LHP Darius Day (Simeon HS), C Mitch Trees (Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin HS), C Michael Papierski (Lemont HS) and RHP/INF Mike Kornacker (St. Laurence HS) once again head the list.

LHP Mike Costanzo (St. Rita HS) has been the biggest riser over the fall, as the left-hander recently earned top prospect honors at the PBR Class of 2014 Showcase, highlighted by his easy 87-88 mph fastball. RHP Bryan Pall (Sandburg HS) has also enjoyed a big fall, and has jumped into the top 10.

OF Mizraim Fuentes (Clemente HS), an athletic 6-foot-2 right-handed hitter with arm strength (90 mph), came out of nowhere to crack the top 20. Other players who slid into the top 20 include SS Rahman Williams (Morgan Park HS), OF Laren Estace (Batavia HS) and strong-armed C T.J. Marik (St. Laurence HS).

Other new players who emerged at the recent Class of 2014 Showcase include OF Braden Mosley (Moline HS), RHP/3B Luke Morgan (Lincoln-Way West HS), RHP Jonathan Figueroa (Clemente HS) and LHP Danny Janowski (T.F. South HS), to name a few.

Enough reading about it. See for yourself.
