Updated Illinois Power 25 Team Rankings

Today marks the fourth Power 25 update of the season after another loaded week of games. The top of the Power 25 remains the same with St. Laurence, staying at No. 1, despite losing their first game of the season to De La Salle (CA), 8-2. The 19-1 Vikings have a tough week ahead with two games this week against No. 7 St. Rita and single games against Marmion and Providence.

Joliet Catholic remains No. 2 in the state after a 2-0 week, knocking off conference opponents, St. Viator and Niles Notre Dame. The Hilltoppers have a busy week ahead with two games against No. 23 Nazareth and single games against Lincoln-Way Central and St. Patrick.

CLIMBING

+ Lincoln-Way East - The Griffins (15-3) jumped from No. 8 to No. 3 after two statements wins last week. The Griffins knocked off No. 4 Lockport 15-7 and Providence 4-2 (ranked No. 22 at the time). The road does not get any easier for LWE as they face No. 4 Lockport once again this week along with three other games.

+ Huntley - The Red Raiders (15-4) have climbed every update and this week is no different. Huntley is all the way up to No. 8 after a 3-0 week. The Red Raiders had a clean three-game sweep of conference-foe Crystal Lake South last week.

+ Neuqua Valley - The Wildcats (14-4) are up to No. 9 in the Power 25, their highest ranking of the spring. Neuqua went 4-0 last week with a three-game conference sweep of Naperville North and they also shutout Waubonsie.

+ Normal University - The Pioneers (13-4) are up to No. 10, where they were ranked to start the season. Normal University went 4-0 last week sweeping two-game series’ against Williamsville and Decatur MaCarthur. The Pioneers outscored their opponents 57-8 in the four games.

+ Metea Valley - The Mustangs (16-1) climb four more spots, up to No. 11 after a 2-0 week. Meta defeated Michigan City (IN) 16-4 and Naperville North 12-4 last week. Metea has No. 9 Metea coming up on Tuesday and three games Waubonsie.

+ Warren - The Blue Devils (17-2), are as hot as any team in the state, winners of 13 in a row. After a 2-0 week the Blue Devils are all the way up to No. 13 in the state, four spots higher than last week. Warren defeated Lake Forest 6-1 and Wilmot (WI) 5-2 last week.

+ De La Salle - The Meteors (10-3) went 3-0 on the week and climbed six spots up to No. 15 in the state. De La Salle beat Montini twice (4-1 & 10-6) and Homewood-Flossmoor (3-1) last week.

FALLING

+ Marist - The Redhawks (8-5) fell five spots, to No. 12, after a 2-1 week. Marist defeated Benet 9-4 and Marian Central Catholic 13-6 but lost to No. 23 Nazareth 12-2 in a game held at Wrigley Field. Marist will be one of the busiest teams in the state this week with six games scheduled in as many days/

+ Prairie Ridge - The Wolves (14-5) had a tough 1-2 week and dropped six spots to No. 17. Prairie Ridge lost 2-of-3 to conference-foe McHenry, who as a result, is now knocking on the door of the Power 25.

+ Lyons Township - The Lions (11-4) defeated Sandburg 4-2 and Downers Grove South 3-2 but lost to Lemont 4-1 in their 2-1 week. As a result Lyons dropped five spots and currently sits at No. 18.

+ Barrington - The Broncos had an up-and-down 2-2 week, falling nine spots to No. 25. Barrington put up double digit runs in their two wins on the week but lost to Palatine 8-7 and were shut out by New Trier 4-0 on Saturday.

NEW TO THE POWER 25

+ Normal West (15-4) - The Wildcats have been on a tear as of late, winners of 12 straight. After another perfect week, where they went 4-0, Normal West jumps into the Power 25 for the first time this spring at No. 16. Last week the Wildcats rolled through two games against Peoria and two against Bloomington, outscoring them 51-4 on the week.

+ Cary-Grove (13-4) - The Trojans, who have been in the Power 25 once before this spring, climb back in after a 4-0 week. Cary-Grove, now No. 24, swept a three-game series against Dundee-Crown and beat Crystal Lake South once. On the week, the Trojans outscored opponents 50-5.
